== Origins ==
The MDT Forge is the successor to two other Forge revival projects, all three of which having once been parts of the Heavenly Forge project/addon:
* The first project, the Polish Forge Project, was developed for {{wog}}{{-ww}}. It began development around 2011, with a test version being published around 2013, though the team was dissolved soon after. Trith and Sower, two key members of this project, joined [[MDT]] later on.
* The second project, the Classic Forge, began development for [[VCMI]]{{-wv}} at a similar time in 2013. As it was a beta of the MDT Forge, some of its many creature concepts survived the numerous cycles of development and now exist in the current MDT Forge. The date of the Classic Forge being published is unknown.
* In final project is the MDT Forge itself, released in its first form in 2015 by the same authors as the Classic Forge. Subsequent changes have been made to creature and hero portraits, with some creatures such as the Sky Brawler/Knight and Juggernaut/Dreadnought receiving major graphical overhauls. After ''Tides of War'' (another [[MDT]] mod) was released, the Bionic Trooper/Cyborg were added as alternative Level 3 units.
