Court sage of {{Hn|Catherine|0=}} and {{Hn|Roland|0=}}. '''Xanthor''' was instrumental in saving the [[Enroth (planet)|world]] from [[Escaton]]'s cataclysm. He constructed the [[Elemental Conflux|Conflux]] Key that allowed the heroes of [[Jadame]] to enter Escaton's Crystal and, from there, reach the Destroyer himself on the Plane Between Planes and stop the cataclysm.

With the crisis averted, Xanthor did not join the [[Ironfist]]s when they continued their voyage back to [[Enroth (continent)|Enroth]]. Fascinated by the lands of Jadame, he decided to stay there. Xanthor also intended to study the Crystal's shard.

Xanthor was first introduced in a series of short stories that take place shortly before and around the start of the events depicted in {{roe}}, delving into the background lore of [[Antagarich]]. He is a professor at the [[University of Erathia]], along with [[Marcus Finch]], another central figure in these stories. It is also mentioned that Xanthor is {{Hn|Agar|0=}}'s nephew and has 'little training in the mystical arts'.

He is the narrator or protagonist in the following stories:

He was captured and imprisoned by the [[barbarian]]s and eventually [[Prisoner of Doom|rescued]] by {{Hn|Bidley|0=}}. In gratitude for being saved, he told [[Bidley]] the location of [[Island of the Vengeful Serpent]] - the resting place of the {{An|Horn of the Abyss}}. But the truth was, he hoped that the pirate would die.

[[All Hands on Board!|Later]], after finally getting the [[Horn of the Abyss]], Bidley was asked to give it to [[Gavin Magnus]] by {{Hn|Solmyr|0=}}. He quickly suspected Xanthor of telling the [[Wizards]] about the Horn.

== Trivia ==
* Xanthor has noticeably increased his magic training by the time of {{mm8}}. Particularly, he learned much from Erathia's [[Great Conflux|elemental allies]].
* As of [[Terror of the Seas]]{{-wh}}, he is renowned as a mage.
