Cursors

Notes

• Many HotA  icons are subtly different. The ones shown here are the noticeable changes.
• All adventure map movement icons show the number of turns to arrive. Example:    

General Cursors
	The normal selection arrow.
	Waiting for an action to complete.
	Arrow for map scrolling. The cursor can point in any of the cardinal or ordinal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW).

Adventure Map Cursors
	The current hero can move to this spot in the number of turns indicated in the lower right. (If no number appears on a movement cursors, the hero can move to the target spot during the current turn.)
	Appears when the cursor moves over an adventure location, like a building or mine, the current hero can visit.
	If the current hero is on land, and this cursor appears over a boat, then the hero may enter the boat. This is the same icon as normal movement when a hero is at sea.
	Appears over a water location a hero on a boat may visit.
	Allow a hero to fly over any tiles on an airship.
	Indicates a shore location where a hero may land a boat and disembark.
	Indicates wandering monsters, enemy towns, enemy garrisons, and enemy heroes a hero may attack.
	Appears over heroes the current hero may trade with. When the hero is reached, the Hero Trading screen is displayed.
	Appears when you cast the Dimension Door spell. To teleport the casting hero to the new location, click the destination in the Adventure Map Window.
	Appears over the current hero or over any of your heroes when a town is selected. Clicking selects the current hero, or displays the Hero Screen if the hero is already selected.
	Appears over your towns. Clicking selects the current town or, if the town is already selected, displays the Town Screen.
	Appears when you cast the Scuttle Boat spell. Click on the boat you wish to cast the spell on.

Combat Screen Cursors
	Click to move the highlighted walking or teleporting troop to this location.
	Click to move the highlighted flying troop to this location.
	Click on this enemy troop to have the highlighted troop perform a hand-to-hand attack. Note: As you move the cursor around the enemy, the sword points towards the enemy. The sword's pommel sits in the hex where the attacker will stand as it attacks. The cursor can point in any of the cardinal or ordinal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW).
	Click on this enemy troop to have the highlighted troop perform a ranged attack.
	Click on this enemy troop to have the highlighted troop perform a hampered ranged attack. Attacks can be hampered by Range penalty or Obstacle penalty and do reduced damage.
	Click to cast a selected spell at this target.
	When you cast the Sacrifice spell, this cursor appears over a valid target troop.
	If you have control of the Catapult during siege combat, this cursor appears over valid Catapult targets.
	If you have control of the First Aid Tent, choose its target with this icon.
	Appears when you cast the Teleport spell. To teleport the target to the new location, click the destination hex.
	Appears when the cursor passes over a hero.
	Appears over a creature troop to get more information about the troop.
	Indicates an invalid target for a spell, or the highlighted creature cannot move to the desired location.
	Ground-targeted Fireball attack by a Magog
	Ground-targeted Death cloud attack by a Lich or Power Lich
	Click on the friendly mechanical troop to have the Mechanic/Engineer repair it. Note: As you move the cursor around the troop, the wrench points towards the troop. The wrench's base sits in the hex where the Mechanic/Engineer will stand as it repairs. The cursor can point in any of the cardinal or ordinal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW).
	Devour a corpse with a Sandworm or Olgoi-Khorkhoi
