The strongest damage spell in the game, the [[Earth Magic]] spell [[Implosion]] (oh the gravity), has 75 dmg each power point and 25 dmg per point more than [[Armageddon]], and base boni of +100/+200/+300 compared to [[Armageddon]]s +30/+60/+120, [[Armageddon]] on the other hand damages any unit on the battlefield that is not immune to it.

Creature specialities still apply, which means that for example [[black dragon]]s or [[efreet sultan]]s as well as [[Phoenix]]es do not suffer any damage.
Units immune to Armageddod´n:

Damages all troops at once with a fixed amount of damage and can be used a first spell that has its casting phase before units - so if the spell power is of sufficient level and there are no immunes in the enemies stacks the enemy hero is easily vanquished and possible artifacts are transferred - better than [[shackles of war]].

Chaos cities have [[black dragon]]s and Inferno Cities have [[efreet sultan]]s, Conflux Cities have [[Firebird]]s all of which apart have either fire or magic immunity (and are thus immune to this spell and not hit by friendly fire that way), also have a good movement rate and less movement penalties on the travel map compared to an all level city group, making them feasible for the use of this spell and having no other, possibly damageable units (which is called the [[Dragogeddon]] tactic).

Discussion

Armageddon may cause severe damage; in fact, only Implosion may cause more damage. However, Implosion affects only a single creature stack while Armageddon affects all the creatures (and war machines) on the battlefield causing more collateral damage than Implosion. Because Armageddon enables to damage all creatures, it has become part of one of the most renowed tactics often called Dragogeddon. The tactic requires creatures immune to Armageddon, and preferably as fast as possible. Before Template:AB and Phoenix, Black Dragons were the fasest creature with immunity to Armageddon, and that is where the name of the tactic has probably been derived. When the hero's army only consist immune creatures, the hero may cast Armageddon without damaging his own creatures in the process causing severe collateral damage.
