Alignment has almost no direct impact on the gameplay, and it is mostly used in the game storyline. In {{roe}} the only things alignment affects are [[Morale]] and [[Altar of Sacrifice]], which allows heroes with good alignment to sacrifice artifacts for experience, evil alignment heroes to sacriface creatures and neutral alignment heroes to sacrifice either one of their choosing. Another effect of alignment was introduced in {{sod}} expansion, where  [[Angelic Alliance]], a [[combination artifact]], allows hero to have creatures from good and neutral towns without causing them to suffer from [[morale|morale penalty]]. Additionally, {{sod}} introduces [[magical terrain]]s [[Clover Field]], [[Holy Ground]] and [[Evil Fog]], which affects the morale depending on the alignment of the creatures.

Black Market is an adventure map location, where heroes can buy Artifacts. The available artifacts contain three treasure artifacts, three minor artifacts, and one major artifact. Unlike Artifact Merchants, the Black Market is never restocked. The prices of artifacts are derived from their basic costs and are the same as in Artifact Merchants with five Marketplaces (basic price x 2,5).

If all the artifacts of the certain class are restricted on the map, artifacts of a random class (relics and combo included) will be generated instead. Spell Scrolls or tomes of magic cannot be found on Black Market.
