The original game was first released on February 28, 1999 in North America, and was followed by the first expansion Armageddon's Blade seven months later, released in September 30, 1999. The second and final official expansion was Shadow of Death, released on March 31, 2000 in North America. Both expansions can be installed independently of each other and require the original game to be installed first. Sometimes Heroes Chronicles is considered to be an expansion, although it is more aimed as an introduction for beginners to the Heroes of Might and Magic series.
