:For some reason, I remember the stage 3 poison effect lasting past the third round, but you may be right... or you're ''most likely'' right; I just can't remember any recent battles where I saw a poisoned stack live more than three turns after being poisoned.  Guess we need further testing... :-)  [[User:Memetics|Memetics]] 06:46, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

I noticed that the Poison effect seems to block at least the Elixir of Life's regeneration effect.

Discussion

While Wyvern Monarch's special ability may seem useful and even powerful, the problem with it is that quite often combats are resolved in the first few rounds. While the chance to poisoning the enemy is only 20%, it is more than possible that the poison ability will not emerge during the battle, or at least not in time to make a difference. Additionally, Monarchs are typically the first creatures in Fortress armies to reach the enemy, which usually also means they are the first ones to get hit. This combined to the fact that Monarchs' health is quite low compared to its level, makes Monarchs number typically small at the end of the game. At best, Monarchs will poison one or two stacks (with retaliation) at the first round of combat, and the poison will have time to affect the whole three rounds reducing the maximum health of the stacks by 30%.

correction

Actually poison gives -10% HP every turn, not -20%. It lasts for 3 rounds, so at the end the victim has -30% HP. Then you can poison it again to remove another 20% at 2 turns. Poison stops working when the victim has -50% hp total.

Stacking

Does it stack with itself? Gem 11:32, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

I don't believe so; either the unit is poisoned, or it isn't. From what I recall, subsequent attacks from a poisonous creature simply do damage; no double-poisoning occurs. Memetics 02:32, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I did some tests... apparently subsequent poisoning can occur, but it resets the effect, so victim will restore its full health before losing it again. Which means no further reduction than 60%. Sadly, because Wyvern Monarchs could use some love... Gem 09:22, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Feel free to update the page with that information. Sounds useful.  :-) Memetics 06:47, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
