Merist was supposed to have been the healer of her village, but when it was discovered that her magical powers were far greater than what would be required as a village healer, she was quickly pressed into the service of Tatalia.

Merist the Witch is a Fortress hero. Merist starts with a spell book and the spell Stone Skin.

Merist's specialty gives in addition to the normal stone skin defense bonus:
     +3 to creatures on level 1–2
     +2 to creatures on level 3–4
     +1 to creatures on level 5–6
     No additional bonus for creatures on level 7.
