The Dread Knights are considered to be the best level 6 unit, alongside the Naga Queens. They also have the highest attack, defense and health for a level 6 unit, accompanied by the largest damage range.

Abilities
Heroes with a specialty
Special ability curse
Black and Dread Knights' curse ability behaves slightly different from the Curse spell as it is not considered fire school spell. This is due to a fact that the ability is not affected by Fiery Fields terrain, and creatures with immunity to fire magic (e.g. Fire Elementals) are not affected by it. However, the ability is affected by the Magic Plains.

Special ability death blow
*Charna has wights as a specialty, which increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Wights or Wraiths for each level attained after 3rd  level and gives them a speed bonus of 1.
Dread Knights' special ability death blow gives them 20% chance of dealing double base damage when attacking a creature stack. The game information states that Dread Knights would deal double damage when the death blow occurs, but that is not technically correct as it only doubles the base damage. In other words, bonuses from Offense, Luck or attack-defense difference are not doubled. See damage calculation for more specific information about the matter.

Heroes with a specialty
General Tactics and Info
*Tamika has black knights as a specialty, which increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Black Knights or Dread Knights for each level attained after 6th level, and gives them a speed bonus of 1.
The Wraiths are good to be given to scouts, since their speed is the highest amongst the Necropolis units that will probably not end up in the main army, at least not as a main troop, but just to steal mana.
* Lord Haart the Death Knight increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Black Knights or Dread Knights +5 and damage +10.

Tomb of Souls

Wights and Wraiths are level 3 creatures of Necropolis town. They are recruited from the Tomb of Souls.

"Wights and wraiths are life destroying spirits damaging their opponents by draining life. The first wight or wraith in each troop regenerates all lost damage at the beginning of each combat round. While wraiths appear on the battlefield, two spell points per turn are drained from an enemy spellcaster's spell points pool." RoE manual

Wights can also be raised with Advanced Necromancy if the hero has equipped the Cloak of the Undead King.

Heroes with a specialty

 • Charna Charna the Death Knight has wights as a specialty, which increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Wights or Wraiths for each level attained after 3rd level and gives them a speed bonus of 1.

General Tactics and Info

The Wraiths are good to be given to scouts, since their speed is the highest amongst the Necropolis units that will probably not end up in the main army, at least not as a main troop, but just to steal mana.
