:its the same 'recalculating starting movepoints during one turn' stuff as in Admiral's Hat bug with two extra details. lets take the grass as a default terrain. u give the hero the gloves, unequip them in the morning, make three straight steps (thats the first important detail: the pre-digging amount of movepoints has to be exatcly the same as our new 'starting movepoints' we want to feed to the game), open and close the hero's window (the second detail: an action to force the game to recalculate the hero's max movepoints. i vaguely remember that this part could be tricky, but the hero's menu was enough for my tests right now), and just dig. as with Admiral's Hat u can get the same effect by playing with the army's slowest guy. --GroundhogYear (talk) 22:18, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
Can Grail be disabled in multiplayer mode (Hota)?
I ask it, due to my fully undeserved win in multiplayer (HotA's online lobby). I played a small map and was very close to lose a scenario in early game due to my blunders. Being desperate I killed somewhat 30 Master Gremlins who guarded an obelisk just near my town. It disclosed the whole puzzle map, and Grail was very close to my town as well. I played for Dungeon, thus with 16 Power I easily defeated Solmyr having a very weak garrison - one Magic Arrow killed 4 Genies or 10 Gargoyles, with no Magic Schools, the only other helpful thing being Mana Vortex (60 Spell Points). Earning 7000 per week, I could easily hire immense army (for a small map and early weeks); in case of unexpected battle I could just surrender - re-hiring a hero for 2500 was just free...

Thus, I feel there should be an opportunity to disable Grail, especially on small maps where owning Grail is just a freebie win. However, I didn't find it anywhere when generating a random map; is there a chance to remove Grail from the map?--Dread Knight (talk) 21:44, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
Does anyone know where does the skyship's likening to a "gnome-made zeppelin" come from? I couldn't find anything related to it in the manuals, but perhaps I just missed it. I think it's a bit strange, since gnomes aren't mentioned anywhere in-game (as far as I am aware of) and suddenly get referenced.

Although Firebirds and Phoenixes are immune to fire magic, they are not unaffected by fire-based creature attacks. For example Magogs' fireball attack or Dragons' breath attacks are not considered to be magical and therefore they do harm Firebirds and Phoenixes. In the original game, they are considered to be one of the most overpowered level 7 unit because of their double growth, speed and specialty. They are useful for Dragogeddon, as they're immune to Armageddon (note that in hota, only Phoenixes are immune to it, therefore in HotA Firebirds are useless for Dragogeddon).
----
Though Phoenixes are not the strongest tier 7 creature, their main strength lies in their incredible speed. They are easily the fastest unit in the game and can cover the span of an entire battlefield with one movement. Even in low numbers, they are extremely handy in the ranks of a hero wielding powerful Expert spells like Slow, Haste or Prayer. An army containing Phoenixes is next to guaranteed to strike first, unless the foe has multiple speed-boosting artifacts like Cape of Velocity and/or is Sir Mullich. This gives the Phoenix controller the ability to immediately buff their entire army or cripple the opponent's. Beware of breath attack which may kill your own troops as well.
----
The Phoenixes' ability to resurrect themselves, although it only works on a very small number of creatures compared to the original stack size, can be quite annoying for an opponent. For instance, it can make it harder to get rid of a stack of phoenixes forcing a shooter into melee, or to kill all of a weaker hero's army before they retreat or surrender with their artifacts.
----
They are creatures summoned from the Elemental Plane of Fire.
Toughness
They have very low defensive stats for a level 6 unit, the lowest health value if we exclude the Enchanter and also the lowest defense.
Offense
The Diamond Golems also have the lowest attack and damage values of a level 6 unit.

Efficiency and cost
Because they can be recruited pretty easily after taking a Golem Factory, and also due to their very low cost, they are units worth having in early game. However, later on they serve only as cannon fodder.

Tactics
Since they take only 5% damage from spells, they can be used by a hero who has learned Armageddon, allowing you to sometimes wipe out your enemy's army in one spell, without hurting your own stack too much. There are much better options available out there (Namely: Efreet, Black and Gold Dragons or Phoenixes), but Diamond Golems can be an option if need be.

If you have a stable access to their dwelling and enough resources, you might consider placing them into a town's garrison (but beware of morale).

Magic resistance is a special ability of certain creatures, which grants them a chance to resist hostile spell effects. Magic resistance does not mean that the creature is immune to spells, and unlike with spell immunity, they can be target of any spell.

Magic resistance of creatures can be increased with Garniture of Interference, Surcoat of Counterpoise or Boots of Polarity artifacts. Contrary to artifacts like Bow of Elven Cherrywood, the hero wearing artifacts that increase magic resistance, doesn't need to have Resistance secondary skill in order of them to work. Although, with Resistance skill a hero further enhance the magic resistance of his troops.
The manual states that the artifact "does not work on undead or non-living creatures". Additionally, the non-undead creatures not affected by the health bonus of the Elixir of Life, (golems, elementals and gargoyles), have other immunities in common, which allows them to be considered one group of non-living creatures.
Rocs and Thunderbirds are the level 5 creatures of Stronghold. They are recruited from the Cliff Nest.

"Rocs and thunderbirds are the only flying units available at Stronghold towns. When thunderbirds attack, there is a 20% chance thunderbolts will strike their target, delivering 10x the number of attacking thunderbirds in additional damage."RoE manual
<div style="clear:left;"></div>
Special Ability: Lightning Strike
Thunderbirds have special ability lightning strike, which has 20% probability to occur after the stack have attacked, including retaliations. When the stack attacks, the lightning strike occurs before the enemy has a chance to retaliate. If successful, the lightning strike deals additional damage for the amount of ten times the number of attacking Thunderbirds. The thunderbolts have the same visual effect as the spell Lightning Bolt, and the special attack is also counted as one in terms of immunities and Golems' spell damage reduction (e.g. if 14 Thunderbirds attack a stack of Diamond Golems with a lightning strike, they will do 7 damage instead of 140 because Diamond Golems have 95% spell damage resistance).

Heroes with a specialty
*Shiva has rocs as a specialty, which increases the attack and defense skills of any rocs or thunderbirds for each level attained after 5th level and gives them a speed bonus of 1.

{{Fanopinion|
Since they are the only flying Stronghold unit, the rocs and thunderbirds usually die in large numbers if they are to be sent to attack the enemy straight away. They should be used tactically and not draw too much damage towards themselves, even if their health stat is the third highest for a level 5. Their defense is also pretty low. Try to upgrade Rocs to Thunderbirds as soon as possible, as with speed 7 Rocs are quite useless. For that reason, capturing Rocs' external dwellings is not that difficult (however, beware of first turn right, and if you cannot kill all 9 Rocs guarding the dwelling at the same time, Slow is still a good idea as the guardians may attack twice due to high morale, reaching some of your troops).

Since the lightning strike deals direct damage that is unaffected by most combat modifiers, it's most effective against heavily armored stacks, although with only a 20% chance of occurring it cannot be relied upon.
Stone Golems and Iron Golems are the level 3 creatures of Tower. They are recruited from the Golem Factory. Both Stone Golems and Iron Golems (along with Gold Golems and Diamond Golems) can be recruited from a Golem Factory on the adventure map.

"Stone and iron golems are built and animated through a process involving both precise craftsmanship and complex magic. Though slow, they are strong and durable combatants. Stone golems take half damage from spell attacks, while iron golems take only a quarter of such damage."RoE manual
Heroes with a specialty
*Josephine has golems as a specialty, which increases the attack and defense skills of any stone or iron golems for each level attained after 3rd level, and gives them a speed bonus of 1.

hota
In Horn of the Abyss, Tower heroes spawn with additional Stone Golems, and these stacks (as all level 3 creatures in the mod) have a 100% chance of appearing.

{{user commentary|
Their only problem is their low speed. In early game they can be okay, also serving as protectors for your Master Gremlins, but later on it's recommended to leave them in the castle, as to not slow down your hero. However, they are good castle defenders, boasting low cost and natural magic resistance, and can still be used for final battles, as any slow unit, since it doesn't matter that much whether you're slowed down or not at the end of the game.

Their 7-9 Attack and solid 10 Defense are top-tier. 30-35 Health is the highest of all level 3 troops. 4-5 Damage is slightly lacking, but they make up for it in their great resilience. Low Speed combined with their toughness makes Golems natural defenders for ranged stacks or town garrison, especialy if town is upgraded with towers as they deal good ranged damage that Golems themselves lack.

Their damage spread is minimal, so Bless and Curse have next to no effect on them, unless the casting hero has at least Advanced Water Magic or Fire Magic.

Golems' only lacking stat is Speed, so Haste seems most obvious beneficial spell to cast on them.

Against melee stacks, Shield, Stone Skin and Fire Shield should have higher priority than damage buffs, as Golems are more suited to keep opponents from hitting your own ranged stacks than to cross the battlefield because of their low Speed.

Depending on situation casting Counterstrike can be surprisingly good, because while Golems aren't hard hitters by any means, they are very resilient, so when fighting multiple enemy stacks in melee these additional retaliations can take high toll on opposing army.

Against ranged stacks, Haste and Air Shield should be used, as their low Speed means they will be shot at more often before they can reach melee range.

They ignore 50%-75% of magic damage. This makes them passable candidates for Dragogeddon tactics, as their great effective Health gives them a good chance to survive Armageddon and still be able to mop up the survivors, if any remain. AoE spells also can be cast more aggressively on Golems than on other, more vulnerable troops.

Tower Land Mines also counts as magic for their damage reduction, so they are great shock troops to send first into the wall breach if you siege enemy Tower.

Because of their unliving and Golem nature, they always have neutral Morale, are completely immune to mind spells and many abilities that only have effect on living troops: Zombie's Disease, Vampire Lord's Life Drain, Lich's death cloud attack (Golems must be main target of Lich's attack to take damage), Ghost Dragon's Aging, Mighty Gorgon's Death Stare, Wyvern Monarch's and Haspid's Poison, Azure Dragon's Fear. Pit Lords cannot summon Demons from their remains.

However they also cannot be resurrected by Archangels and spells Animate Dead and Resurrection do not work on them - any casualties that Golems take are unsalvageable.

Thanks to this immunity, Golems are great counter to any troop that can debilitate opponents, and are especially useful against Necropolis armies, as none of their tricks are effective on Golems.

When fighting Necropolis army, make sure Golems do not stand next to any other troop to avoid them being targeted by Liches' death cloud, as it can only damage Golems directly and also will harm other living stacks nearby. Golems should be used to take Vampire Lords' counterattack, as Vampire Lords are not healed by attacking unliving targets, and Golems are tough enough to survive retaliation. Then hard-hitting but living stacks of Genies or Nagas can decimate the Vampire Lords. Gargoyles can be used in this way, but are relatively more fragile than Golems and thus less suited to take hits.

Adam Eornom: Changing to reduction.

General Strategies
Choosing a good primary (main) hero
* Good main hero is good in battle. Some heroes are simply equipped with unnecessary secondary skills like Eagly Eye and Learning. Avoid them. Archery, Offense or Armorer is much better.
* Might heroes are better with big armies than magic heroes. Every point in attack and defense is useful for every creature, while too much spell power or too much knowledge can be of limited use. Sometimes you need a simple spell more than very advanced spells, that need much more power and knowledge to be effective.
* Heroes that can be better with each level are better than ones that do not benefit much from having a lot of experience. Crag Hack, Mephala or Malekith are better and better with each level, while also combinating their speciality with specific primary skills.
* Good hero can move fast. Someone with logistics (od navigation on water maps) is much better than slow heroes. Not only fast heroes can better attack or collect resources, they also gain experience faster. So, Gunnar or Kyrre are good options.
* Estates, Scholar and similar skills are useful, but normally main hero do not have enough skills slots to have them. There are simply more important skills.
* No magic skill? Not good. Get one. Or two. Main hero should not have all four of them, because there will be not enough slots for other, might or magic related skills.
* Some secondary skills are great in combination. For example, if you like spell Chain lightning, combination of Air Magic, Sorcery and Wisdom is a way to go. It can be also even more improved with Intelligence.
* Some heroes start with a lot of creatures. With specialist for level 1, 2 or 3 units, you can clear the mine defenders easier. However, choose units, that you will use in the final phases of the game as well.
* There is a lot of good heroes and bad heroes. Use forums and Wiki to know more about them.
* Find your build. Different towns needs different heroes, but some of the heroes are great in any town, while others are usable only in one town. For example, Valeska is good in castle town, while Orrin is good in every town - and even better in towns with more ranged units - or when using archers from multiple towns. Having Marksmen, Magi, Zealots and Titans in one army is great for this hero.
* Choose based on map. Are you playing a map with lots of snow or swamp? Take someone with pathfinding.
* Some magic heroes are great in the hands of a skilled player. For example Eovacius, Thant, Jeddite...
* Overall, overlords and barbarians are ones with the stronger heroes, while planeswalkers and alchemists are among the worse ones.

Some of the best primary heroes: Orrin, Mephala, Crag Hack, Gunnar, Dessa, Tazar...

Choosing a good secondary (helper) hero
* Estates, scholar and logistics are some of the very good secondary skills for heroes, that are not designed for fighting.
* Normally, secondary heroes will have much less experience than main heroes. It is possible that they will learn only a small amount of secondary skills.
* Gold and estates specialities are extremely good. They can provide you with gold, so you can have capitol, level 7 creature generator and many other buildings faster.
* During 4 months, single gold specialist can provide you with 39 200 gold. Enough for 4 capitols or 1 entire week of all creatures from single town. Leena can get you about 150 000 gold.
* Logistics is good, if you need to move new fresh forces from your town to the main hero, fighting several days from your town.
* In need of gems? Crystals? Mercury? Sulfur? Or simply you have many towns and you can trade surplus? There are heroes like Rissa that can help you out.
* Scholar can help you with two things: Exchanging spells between important heroes, and also so your fighting hero can get a special spell, that some of your new heroes have. Great, if you need Prayer and you find Loynis in the tavern etc.
* Ballista costs as much as a hero. So it is better to recruit a new hero and swap ballista to your main hero. Same with cannon (and cannon is much more expensive than Jeremy the captain). You can also use Rion, if you need first aid tent in the castle town.

Some of the best secondary heroes: Leena, Lord Haart, Octavia, Aine, Rissa, Sephinroth, Jeremy...

It is up to a player, if his first hero is a good primary or a good secondary hero.

Early Capitol
This tactics is great on closed maps, when all enemies are far and not doing any problems in the first turns. If you rush for early capitol, you can have more gold than other players.
Pros: You can have more income, so you can build new units and buildings with enough gold. You can also have more heroes than usual.
Cons: With limited amount of creature buildings, you cannot make a good defense early. You also cannot attack all the mine protectors. So while you will not have a problem with gold, you may miss enought ore, crystals etc in the city development.

Rushing for capitol is of course hard on higher difficulty. Capitol costs 10 000 gold, castle and citadel costs 7 500 gold. Many buildings, like blacksmiths, are not that useful early on (or almost useless for some time), yet you simply need them. However, difference in two weeks, with capitol and without capitol, is 14 x 2000 gold, 28 000 gold in total.

For early capitol, it is a good idea to pick a good secondary hero (or start with someone) with gold speciality and/or estates. Lord Haart and Leena are two best choices.

Example build order:

# Town Hall
# Magic Guild
# Marketplace
# Blacksmith
# City Hall
# Citadel
# Castle
# Capitol
# Resource silo (if needed)
# unupgraded creature dwellings (so you can have as much units as possible)
# other buildings

Dragogeddon
A tactical maneuver, wherein the hero aims to cast the Armageddon spell without harming his own troops. In the original roe, Black Dragons and Gold Dragons were the best creatures to have when using this tactic, hence the name dragogeddon. Important note is that Red and Green Dragons, who are, respectively, basic versions of Black and Gold ones, are immune only to 1-3 level spells, and thus will be normally damaged by Armageddon which is level 4 spell.

In order for dragogeddon tactics to work in the best possible way, the hero requires:
* at least advanced Wisdom to learn Armageddon
* high power skill for Armageddon to cause as much damage as possible
* reasonable knowledge for sufficient spell points to cast the spell at least few times
* creatures with appropriate spell immunity to cause damage only to enemy units.

Possible creatures for the dragogeddon tactics are:
* Black Dragons from Dungeon (but not Red!)
* Gold Dragons from Rampart (but not Green!)
* Efreet Sultans from Inferno
* Fire Elementals, Magma Elementals, Magic Elementals or Phoenixes from Conflux

Additionally, golems may be used for the tactic because of their Spell damage reduction ability. For this purpose, Tower's Stone and Iron Golems are typically the easiest to gather. However, dragogeddon tactics are often used in situations where it is essential to rapidly – preferably in the first round of combat – destroy enemy forces, and therefore golems with a slow speed rating are not a preferable choice. Conflux's Fire Elementals and Magic Elementals are not significantly better. Another option is using Archangels or Arch Devils who are faster than Gold or Black Dragons, casting Anti-magic on them in the first turn and Armageddon afterwards (beware that Anti-magic disallows you to resurrect units).

The combination artifact Power of the Dragon Father, while hard to obtain, makes all of the hero's units immune to Armageddon, allowing dragogeddon usage with any army.

Another situation for dragogeddon is when a player needs to weaken an enemy hero's main force. When used for this purpose, the attacking method is typically hit-and-run, which makes speed essential and Phoenixes the best choice. It is vital for the hero to act first in the combat, cast Armageddon and then surrender (or retreat), and then repeat the process. In an ideal situation, the enemy hero's movement has ended up near the defending player's town, when it is a short distance to attack the enemy hero over and over again with Phoenixes combined with Armageddon.

The biggest threats for dragogeddon are Orb of Inhibition, disallowing the use of all spells in combat and Recanter's Cloak, suppressing spells any higher than level 3.

In general, Dungeon's Black Dragons are more likely to be part of Dragogeddon than Rampart's Gold Dragons, since Armageddon spell appears only in evil alignment towns (Inferno, Necropolis, and Dungeon). If a map has Rampart and/or Conflux but no evil alignment towns, it is almost impossible to use dragogeddon tactics.

Artifact Monopoly
A tactic for the turn's first human player of every month. Since all Artifact Merchants carry the same stock, the human player who is first in the turn order gets the first choice of artifacts to buy every month. This can be a huge advantage during multiplayer games, as the computers always act after the human players.

If playing with sod expansion, a solid use of the strategy is to buy every combination artifact piece they can afford at the first round of the month. After a few months, and with some luck in adventuring, the first player - using this tactic - may combine few of the easier combination artifacts like Bow of the Sharpshooter, Cloak of the Undead King or Wizard's Well - all quite powerful.

A mite, but not an enemy, very charming, no enmities
If you don't have the resources to run that one town you need the troops from, let the enemy capture it and spend all their resources building it for you, then when they least expect it, take it back with minimal force. Losses are 500 (basic city) over 1000 (with Town Hall building) over 2000 (City Hall) gold to 4000 gold (Capitol city, losing the Capitol to the enemy destroys the 10k gold Capitol building) each day and the added costs of recapturing the town - but the Resources needed for better buildings might even be harder to come by and you want that high level unit buildings to be built in the long term, why not let the enemy build them.

Stack divide, and conquer
Flanking has its uses, Cyclops and Genie units with their casting or castle wall damage feature work without considering the unit amount of the stack , so Cyclops that have damage castle walls as a special will get one castle wall attack per Cyclops stack (or even advanced Ballistics and thus two shots when the stack is a Cyclops King stack), the number of Cyclops in the stack is not relevant and Genies will get their usual allotment of spells without regarding the stack size too - one Genie and his utility spells is as important as 100 considering spells that they can cast - as opposed to Faerie Dragons that use damaging spells that depend on the number of units the stack has. Genies are level 5 creatures, a Cyclops is a level 6 creature, both are a little bit faster than level 1 or 2 units in general - and those tend to die off easily midgame so the open places in the army of the hero are not actually wasted given utility spells on worthwhile creatures or faster sieges and additionally higher level creatures also tend to move faster on the adventure map.

Faction Specific Strategies
* Castle

Special ability is a term typically referring to a creature's ability to actively or passively do something other than basic melee attack in combat. Active special ability means, that the creature has to act in a specific way for the special ability to emerge. For example, Wyverns' poisonous ability requires them to attack or retaliate. Passive special ability means, that the creature does not have to do anything to use it. For example undead is an special ability of all necropolis creatures, which makes them - among other things - immune to certain spells. A passive ability could also be considered a characteristic of a creature.

This spell is most effective on creatures which have a large damage range and, at Advanced and Expert level, stacks of troops with low damage but large numbers of creatures in them.

The +1 extra damage bonus from Advanced Water Magic is more beneficial to units that normally deal low damage as it's greater percentage of their base damage, so it's even more useful to low level units with high numbers and large damage bracket. Many 1st level units deal 1-3 damage values - Pikemen, Troglodytes, Sprites (Skeletons too, but as Undead, they cannot be Blessed). Harpies & Harpy Hags with 1-4 damage are perhaps most affected, as Advanced Bless causes them to deal 5 damage instead of 1-4, average 2,5, doubling their output. Air Elementals & Storm Elementals deal similarly proportioned 2-8 damage.

Because of its mechanic, normal and basic Bless is useless to cast on troops with fixed damage value: Angels, Nagas, Peasants, Enchanters and Rust Dragons. Advanced Bless has a very minor effect, as 1 point of damage is more or less a negligible amount on such troops. With the exception of peasants; where +1 basically doubles their damage output. This boost could be a game changer in numbers massive enough. However, getting to that point is only reasonable on paper and even then, it is really hard to keep them alive.
* Enchanters (expert level)

{{user commentary|
The spell is most effective on creatures which have a large range between their minimum and maximum damage and, at Advanced and Expert level, troop stacks with a large amount of creatures in them.

- More precisely, it's most effective on creatures which have large relative proportion of max damage to average damage and low damage but high stack numbers. Think of Gremlins with their min 1, avg 1,5, max 2 damage that becomes fixed 2 (+33% from average 1,5) or 3 on Advanced+ (+100% from avg 1,5). Giants and Titans have larger numerical variance (40-60) but their min-avg-max damage ratio is lower - min 1, avg 1,25, max 1,5, so they only get +20% from normal Bless and 22% from Advanced.

The +1 extra damage bonus from Advanced Water Magic is more beneficial to units that normally deal low damage as it's greater percentage of their base damage, so it's even more useful to low level units with high numbers and large variance. Like anything that has 1-3 or so damage values - Pikemen, Troglodytes, Sprites. Hags & Harpy Hags with 1-4 are perhaps most affected. Air Elementals & Storm Elementals have 2-8, same proportions, but they don't get as dramatic powerup from Adv Bless - it's only 1/8th and not 1/4th of "normal" max damage.

Bless also almost completely eliminates damage variance, which is helpful as it makes combat much more predictable, particularly the possibility and strength of counter-attacks.

{{Fanopinion|
Like most ranged units, they are very vulnerable when within melee range. This applies especially to Sharpshooters, glass cannons whose 15HP are the lowest among all Level 4 units. However, they have the highest damage-to-hit points ratio of any (non-Level 1) unit in the game, dealing tremendous amounts of damage as long as they are kept alive. Expert Slow coupled with Expert Archery helps immensely with this. When laying siege to a town, they are extremely useful as they have no obstacle penalty, though they are often targeted by Arrow Towers. Do anything to protect Sharpshooters against enemy's melee fighters. Sharpshooters' major advantage is their excellent speed, especially in comparison with many other ranged units, which means they can wipe out a major part of the enemy's army prior to the turn of many of its units.

When playing Gelu, don't upgrade Elves to Sharpshooters too early, particularly on harder difficulties, as it is expensive. You don't need Grand Elves and the upgraded Homestead at all.
Chain Lightning strikes up to four or five creature stacks causing full damage for the initial target, and halving for each target after that. The closest creature stack to the initial target becomes the second target of the spell whether it is a friend or a foe, and this method repeats itself for all the spell's targets. However, the same creature stack cannot be targeted twice. If two or more targets are at the equal distance from previous target, then the stack is randomly chosen. {{fanopinion|
In a big battle, Chain Lightning is mighty, especially at the beginning of the combat. It can wipe out great amounts of units and weaken the enemy significantly. However, when fighting against an enemy with a low amount of stacks, it is not very welcome since it may destroy some of our troops. Ironically, when Air Magic secondary skill level is increased, there are more situations where Chain Lightning is not a good choice, as it strikes 5 stacks instead of 4 (i.e. fighting against enemy with 4 stacks makes Chain Lightning undesirable). Thus, low amount of stacks is a way to resist this powerful spell. If you fight against wandering monsters, consider having a little army, so that your enemies will form many small stacks, and you kill them with Chain Lightning.

Chain Lightning on the other hand only strikes the closest creature from last one, so if enemies have a lot of stacks, ar machines and etc it will still only attack the enemy.

A way to defend your tower army from lightning strikes is just to have Golems as your closest impact creature. Iron Golems will absorb 75% of the magic damage, making your losses negligible.
Heroes with Logistics (basic) as a starting skill:
* Gunnar
* Kyrre

Bonus depends on the secondary skill and is calculated by the formula: [Logistics Bonus] * [Hero level] * 1.05. That is 5% (relative, not absolute) to Logistics for the level, not 5% of the total MP.

Example: Hero with 11+ monster speed will have 2000 movement points. With expert logistics, hero will have 2600 movement points. Level 20 Dessa/Kyrre/Gunnar will have 30%+(30%*0,05)*20=60% additional movement points, meaning 3200.
* Equestrian's Gloves increase hero's movement on land by +300 (+200 in Horn of the Abyss withhota) points.

{{user commentary|
Logistics is an important secondary skill, as it allows a hero to move on an adventure map really fast. Slow troops won't be that big obstacle, and your army won't be restricted to fast units, since they are not always strong and resilient unlike slower ones (e.g. in Rampart, Dwarves and Dendroids are more durable than Elves and Pegasi, in terms of their level). For a supporting hero, Logistics is necessary, because it makes easier collecting units summoned from external dwellings, collecting resources (e.g from Windmills), and reaching keypoints of a map. Reaching further with hero chains, picking up more resources, revealing more fog of war, and taking more fights with your army(/ies) are all very valuable.
