Black Dragon versus Arch Devil
The Arch Devil strangely is more expensive than the Black Dragon, at 4500+2M versus 4000+2S for the BD. The Black Dragon has 50% more health, spell immunity, a 2 hex attack, and a higher median damage (45 versus 35). The Arch Devil has the no retaliation (which makes it somewhat like a ranged unit with running), a -1 to luck special, +2 speed, and a delta 4 advantage in A/D. 500 more for an Arch Devil? The cost difference seems difficult to justify. Which unit has a better value to the army? Counter arguing, Black Dragons have that cool spell immunity, but that also means that can't be shielded/stone skinned/blessed or what-have-you, whereas Arch-Devils can. I think both pros and cons nullify each other for the low level spells. However, the real difference is in the 2, 4, and 5 level damage spells. Those hit points, which by the way you are paying a lot of gold for, can be dwindled down quite drastically with those damage spells with a decent spell power, devastating that enormous investment. To add to the matter, Arch Devils have the least hit points of any upgraded level 7 unit, tied equal with the lowly Ghost Dragons, and the growth-boosted Phoenixes, both of whom which cost at least 1500 less gold than the Arch Devil. Henceforth, is the Arch Devil over-priced for the value that it brings to the army, the question can be asked? In particular, is the Arch Devil worth more gold than the Black Dragon? It's close. The ultimate counter argument to the Arch Devil, its lower hit points, and its high cost, is it is easier raising by Sacrifice or Resurrection.
Quite useful, since it gives you first chance to cast spells in sieges (provided that the defending hero doesn't have Artillery).

Recommended for: Heroes with walker-heavy armies

Further discussion: While useful for breaking open the gate quickly, one also has to care to consider that it is the only battle-skill that in non-siege battle situations has absolutely no impact. Therefore, in a multiplayer game it may be better to select a more multi-situation skill upon which to invest. In single-player games, more useful, but also situational, as the AI tends to charge out of the castle if an army demonstrates any significant long-range damage abilities. It is very rare that the AI stays in the castle entirely, and that this skill is entirely necessary. I would take this if I had walker armies, and were offered an alternative skill considerably less useful (ie. eagle eye, learning).
One of the great things about Naga Queens is that their building upgrade requires no wood, making them under certain situations much more feasible to obtain compared to Arch Magi.
* Theodorus the Wizard (basic)
* Yog the Barbarian (basic)

Discussion
Quite useful, since it gives you first chance to cast spells in sieges (provided that the defending hero doesn't have Artillery).

Recommended for: Heroes with walker-heavy armies

Further discussion: While useful for breaking open the gate quickly, one also has to care to consider that it is the only battle-skill that in non-siege battle situations has no absolutely no impact.
Mysticism is one of secondary skills. Normally heroes regenerate one spell point per day, but mysticism enables heroes to regenerate up to four points per day.
Heroes who start with mysticism
The following heroes all start with basic mysticism:
* Axsis the Heretic
* Finneas the Necromancer
* Halon the Wizard
* Charm of Mana – allows your hero to regenerate 3 spell points per day.
* Talisman of Mana – allows your hero to regenerate 2 spell points per day.
* Mystic Orb of Mana – allows your hero to regenerate 3 spell points per day.
* Wizard's Well (insod) – Combination artifact, that is assembled from the artifacts mentioned above. While equipped, it allows your hero to regenerate all spell points in a day.

Comments & debate
Mysticism is one of those secondary skills, that have a good idea but the execution fails. A hero with expert mysticism gains four spell points per day, which is the same amount of points a hero with Mystic Orb of Mana (a treasure class artifact) would gain. The only situation mysticism could be useful, is in maps with long traveling distances or maps with no magic wells or mage guilds to recharge spell points. However, these are rare occasions, of which the Dragon Slayer campaign might be one. In conclusion, mysticism is just not worth spending one of eight possible secondary skill slots.
Archery gets a bonus of 50% at expert, which is superior to offense at expert which is at 30% (but offset if forced to melee). Archery combined with the artifact Golden Bow is an effective combination, not to mention the combination artifact Bow of the Sharpshooter in sod.
Archery is a secondary skill with two sides. Is almost useless if a hero has only few (weak) ranged units. On the other hand, it may be even better than Offense, which only gives 30% increse to melee damage, if a hero manages to muster strong ranged units like Titans and Cyclops Kings. From the faction Tower and Dungeon heroes are perhaps the advisable candidates to choose Archery because of the powerful ranged units. Slow is one of the best spells in the game, even though it is only level 1. Especially useful early in the game it can allow one's units to have first option at attacking. Ranged attackers such as Marksmen and Grand Elves can easily clear out slow, yet powerful guardians like Dendroids or Golems with this spell in effect.
