== Overview ==
'''Forge''' was a town planned for {{ab}}. It was a technologically-oriented town, stylistically being a mix of Star Trek-esque high technology (already known from the Might & Magic universe), dieselpunk, cyberpunk, and art deco. Its unit lineup included [[Goblins]], [[Zombies]], humans and other creatures "borrowed" from other factions, armed with weapons such as chainsaws, guns, jetpacks, and rocket launchers. However, due to backlash from some fans (which involved threats of boycotting the game and letters with death threats sent to the developers), the town was scrapped before ever finishing development. The issue was exacerbated by several bloggers who encouraged the fans to excessively share hateful thoughts about the faction. The Forge was instead replaced by the [[Conflux]], which was originally supposed to appear in a later untitled expansion, according to an interview with [[Gregory Fulton]]. The Conflux's release date was catapulted forward as a consequence of the Forge's cancellation, and the faction was featured in {{ab}}. 3DO was in financial dire straits and the company could not afford to take the risk of even a projected 5% of potential buyers boycotting the game. The expansion's storyline was reworked to accommodate the change.
