== Fact-check and grammar-check needed == Is Kastore the ruler of Deyja? What about Finneas Vilmar in the SoD campaign? Doesn't SoD occur after the Factory campaign? - Csaros (talk) * We should have some kind of timeline somewhere. My impression is it is HotA -> SoD -> RoE -> AB -> HC, but there might be some overlap between campaigns in an expansion (e.g. Warlords of the Wasteland is probably way in the beginning). --Legate (talk) 14:00, 13 February 2024 (UTC) * Factory campaign directly mentions events from the RoE campaigns. SoD campaign is definitely happening before AB, as Gelu does not have the Armageddon's Blade at his disposal. Some of the HC stories mention Bracadun, which was the kingdom that existed before Bracada was created; they must be therefore happening far in the past, before any other campaigns. - Csaros (talk) 16:49, 13 February 2024 (UTC) * I smell a sweet campaign timeline graphic coming on. Though the first, the one with Bracaduun, is from his mortal life, before all that. If you want to make a rough timeline, then it'd look like this: Ancient history: * Warlords of the Wasteland -- necessarily the very first in Tarnum's story * Conquest of the Underworld -- the Underworld Kreegans are basically exterminated and they're not really seen anymore until the Night of Shooting Stars * Masters of the Elements -- the Elemental Conflux had the time to be completely forgotten about, so it's old * The World Tree/The Fiery Moon -- not really sure when this happened, but these two are back-to-back * Revolt of the Beastmasters -- it has to be relatively old because there's really not enough time between ROE and the Reckoning for a "Mad King Gryphonheart" to appear. So it's gotta be ancient history. ** Also the last scenario is called The First Tatalian War implying it is the birth of the country of Tatalia. ** It's not just implied, it's outright stated in the messages from Naming a Nation. "Contemporary" history. * All campaigns from Shadow of Death, which really works as a prequel to Restoration of Erathia. Note for example how Specter of Power is basically the set up for Long Live the King and Song for the Father. Also see how several of the campaigns are basically the backstory of a few generic heroes (Gem in New Beginning, Crag Hack in Hack and Slash, Yog in Birth of a Barbarian, and of course Sandro in, well, most of them). Gelu's appearance in Elixir of Life is also necessarily from before Armageddon's Blade, since it starts by being about his graduation in the Forest Guards... * Forged in Fire from HotA starts basically shortly before Long Live the Queen since its first map is about the Kreegan invasion. The adventures in Jadame last for all the duration of ROE and AB, since Homecoming (HotA) is about synchronous with Oblivion's Edge. ** Based on the event text in Dead or Alive, it is synchronous with the first half of the RoE campaigns. * Foolhardy Waywardness is Christian's backstory and a prequel to Long Live the Queen. * All campaigns from Restoration of Erathia * All campaigns from Armageddon's Blade (except Foolhardy Waywardness) * Clash of the Dragons from HC happens necessarily after Dragon's Blood * The Sword of Frost is necessarily the last official campaign to take place on the world of Enroth, since it just gets destroyed afterwards... ** Specifically it must be after Armageddon's Blade (campaign) and Festival of Life The Bidley & Jeremy saga from HotA (Under the Jolly Roger, Terror of the Seas, Horn of the Abyss must be from slightly before Forged in Fire, because they have at least one character in common: Dargem, who appears in In Search of the Horn, Treachery, All Hands on Board!, and Dead or Alive. Kastore took over Deyja in Might & Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer, a game in the mainline M&M series that sort of works as a sequel to Armageddon's Blade. (They kinda spread the story over both the mainline and the Heroes series: M&M6 -> Heroes 3 -> M&M 7 -> Armageddon's Blade -> M&M 8.) One thing to keep in mind about the timeline, though, is that NWC didn't really care about it all that much. This is how we get two Kastores, because in the mainline games he came from Terra but he was in Heroes before that, so heck, they are just two different elves with the same name, the same class and the same face, just a coincidence... Heroes 3 took place on a brand new continent just so as to not have to deal too much with Heroes 1 and 2's continuity. And they got rid of Enroth and replaced it with Axeoth for basically the same reason.
