== Trivia ==
* Lore-wise, Roland is not only a [[knight]], but also a [[wizard]]. He has been represented by both of these hero classes in {{homm2}}.
* Roland only has the knight class in {{homm3}}, but him being a wizard is acknowledged in [[Return of the King]], where he starts with a [[spell book]].
* Although in [[Deal With the Devil]] the allied Erathian-[[AvLee|AvLeean]] forces successfully capture [[Kleesive]], they are unable to free Roland. This means that either Lucifer was bluffing, as the scenario texts strongly hint, or [[Clan Kreelah]] had moved the prisoner.
* Roland was freed after the [[Restoration Wars]], around 1169 or late 1168 [[AS]]. This is depicted in {{mm7}}. He then returned to Enroth once he recovered physically, having a brief reunion with his son.
* His [[Roland#Letter to Nicolai|letter to Nicolai]] was written between the events of {{mm7}} and {{ab}}. [[Nicolai]] kept Roland's letter as a memento, the letter still being with him by the time he ended up on [[Axeoth]] after the [[Reckoning]]. The player can read it in {{mm9}}.
* Roland coming back to [[Antagarich]] from Enroth was due to hearing about Armageddon's Blade, as his letter to Nicolai indicates. While the threat was real, the Blade was not yet forged at that time, contrary to what Roland had heard. He was in Erathia, serving as a general, by the outset of the [[Erathia-Kreegan war]].
