== Are manuals actually necessary for this wiki? == While the idea of manuals in this wiki is reasonable, I fail to see the point of having them here. In my opinnion, these manual pages are useless. I do not think anyone will read them from here, and certanly not in this form where all the pages are scattered as their own files. I suggest that we will remove the files. Any counter arguments? β[[User:Kapteeni Ruoska|Kapteeni Ruoska]] ([[User talk:Kapteeni Ruoska|talk]]) 10:24, 5 November 2017 (CET) : The point is to have the text searchable in the wiki. I've painstakingly edited each one for accuracy. <br> : --[[User:imahero|imahero]] ::What do you mean by searchable? Is it somehow possible to use the wiki's search function to find words in the pages of manual? β[[User:Kapteeni Ruoska|Kapteeni Ruoska]] ([[User talk:Kapteeni Ruoska|talk]]) 14:40, 5 November 2017 (CET) ::: Try using the wiki's search function with: '''"manual page" archangels''' ::: --[[User:imahero|imahero]] :::: In that case, should that search utility be mentioned on the main page or something? It sounds like it could be useful, but since not even Kapt. Ruoska or I knew of it, it seems unlikely that it would be made use of by people using the wiki [[User:Ibraesil|Ibraesil]] ([[User talk:Ibraesil|talk]]) 11:59, 6 November 2017 (CET) ::::: The search utility is just the basic one in the sidebar. The people just need to know to type "manual page" in quotes and then whatever it is they are looking for after that. I added a hint to [[User:imahero/Proposals/Conservative Main Page|my main page proposal]]. What do you think? ::::: --[[user:imahero|imahero]] 14:30, 6 November 2017 (CET) ::::::I am still not entirely conviced that the manuals nor the search function is necessary, even though I can appriciate the hard work you have put into it. In my opinnion, the search with "manual page" in quotes is too clumsy. Besides, the manuals are easy to get as pdf versions, and they typically offer better search functions. However, would it be possible to somehow "hide" the manual pages from the wiki and pop out only when search function is used? β[[User:Kapteeni Ruoska|Kapteeni Ruoska]] ([[User talk:Kapteeni Ruoska|talk]]) 07:16, 7 November 2017 (CET) ::::::: Some people may find the feature useful. Others maybe not so much. As Ibraesil said, the feature is already "hidden" enough. No need to try to hide it further. I think we should instead create a <nowiki>[[Tips For Using The Wiki]]</nowiki> page and put the hint there. ::::::: --[[user:imahero|imahero]] 07:30, 7 November 2017 (CET)
