Editing Khazandar

A [[Bracada|Bracadan]] mage, once based in the town of [[Tarach's Cove]], '''Khazandar''' was considered a renegade by many wizards because of his mercenary attitude. He was eventually demoted from [[Archmage]] to [[Alchemist]]. Although he prided himself to have unchallenged skills as an alchemist and weaponsmith, this demotion left him resentful and, as revenge, he became even more mercenary, working for anyone who had the gold to commission his work. He is known to have created, for example, an adamantine hammer for the High Priest of the [[Temple of Baa]], a cult created by [[Xenofex]] in [[Enroth (continent)|Enroth]].

Foreseeing his role in creating the [[Armageddon's Blade (artifact)|Armageddon's Blade]], the [[Elemental Lords]] sent heroes to secure him and keep him hidden. During the [[Erathia-Kreegan war]], [[Xeron]], however,  defeated these heroes, found the Grand Forgesmith, and delivered to him the necessary components to create the artifact. These relics were the [[Shield of the Damned]], the [[Sword of Hellfire]] and the [[Breastplate of Brimstone]], with the Blade's creation also involving the four elements mixed with [[devil]]'s ichor. Khazandar's price for his services was a large sum of gold and being spared when the Blade would ravage the world. When the weapon was successfully forged, however, Xeron ordered his death. Soon after, [[Gelu]] found Khazandar crucified and humiliated, his corpse left to rot on a cross in [[Jagos]], an [[Inferno]] in northern Eeofol, near the [[AvLee|AvLeean]] border.

Khazandar later appeared in [[Roland]]'s dream to tell his tale and warn him of the danger of letting oneself be blinded by the desire for revenge.

Despite his semi-ostracism, Khazandar kept in touch with [[Frederick]], who considered him to be "the freest mind in Bracada".

== Trivia ==
* Originally trained by [[Galen]].
* By the time [[Xeron]] found him, Khazandar lived in a part of [[Grainrich]]  on the outskirts of the [[Contested Lands]], just south of the [[Great Lake (Erathia)|Great Lake]]. His house was in the tunnels left behind by [[Nighon]] during the recent invasion of [[Erathia]].
* Despite finding him before Xeron, the [[Great Conflux]] did not kill Khazandar to prevent the Blade from being forged. Xeron mused on this display of mercy ruining their efforts.
* Devil's ichor first appeared in {{mm7}}, where it serves as an alchemical reagent for making yellow potions. It is harvested from bodies of dead [[Kreegan|Kreegans]].
* It is not firmly established whether the Khazandar from the dream in [[Oblivion's Edge]] is Khazandar's spirit or Roland's own subconscious, with both being likely.
