Ring of the Magi
- I really like the new spell cost reducing effect. It is interesting and new and fits with what Magi already do! --Legate (talk) 17:01, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- 1 question: Does it stack with Magi/Arch Magi reducing spell cost? If so, Can it get expert Magic Arrow (and others) down to a 0 sp cost spell? If so, consider making spells cost a minimum of 1 sp?
Dispel
- The Dispel changes may be a bit much. I always viewed it as a tactical decision whether to use dispel because you knew it would get rid of your buffs as well. Having it only affect enemies removes much of this give/take. --Legate (talk) 18:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Related, but probably too complicated for this mod - Is there some way to optionally cast Dispel as a single target even when you have the mass version of the spell? Dispel is (I think) the only spell that I sometimes wish I had a lower proficiency version of the spell. I guess this same thought could apply to any spell whose AOE increases (e.g. Berserk, Force Field, Fire Wall), although in practice those never seem to bother me. --Legate (talk) 18:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think I could make it work, I've seen some code that changes targeting based on level and adds expert version as separate. But I don't really like it - it's not beautiful like the rest of H3 design. No spell in the game copies itself in the book if you have expert; I don't want to make that exception. - I'm not sure if I agree. Water magic is already very bad, and expert dispel removing everything makes it even worse for you to use. I talked with guest_273, and he says in pro-play Dispel is generally an offensive cast, but often requires Sphere of Permanence; and that with this change, it's more viable as the offensive cast.
