Holy Moly
- Csaros - Standing ovation, well done on this page! There is an incredible amount of info here!
- Because there is so much info here, I think we should consider breaking this into a hierarchy of pages. Maybe 1 page per major section?
- It also might be helpful to add some pictures of the editor as a reference point for what you are talking about.
- I looked around a little and didn't see the pics for the map editor buttons/menus. I'll add it to the proposals page to get those pics.
- The page is not done yet. I'm gonna have to add Pandora's boxes, Events, resources, Lamps, scholars, Map Specifications, and I also wanted to add a detailed guide with examples based on my own maps or some of the original ones. Should be done by the end of next week. --Csaros (talk)
- I uploaded a bunch of appropriate pictures to the Gallery. I could use some help moving them into the right side of the screen, so that they don't separate the text. --Csaros (talk) 10:29, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- As far as I know this would require a large rewrite of the page because they are all in a gallery. But yes this is a very large page and I would consider making it just a landing page for the map editor and have separate pages for each individual feature. Then you could more easily include the specific images on each page to which they refer. To move them to the right put them inside span tags like this: <span style='float:right;'>[[File:imagename.png]]</span> –imahero 19:44, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'm gonna split it on the days, when the Map Specifications part is finished. I've tried adding the pictures using the span as you suggested, except they are way too large to fit them well. I'll figure out the way to make them smaller eventually, but for now they will remain in gallery. - Csaros (talk) 13:45, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- The sizing is pretty easy - just use something like '40px' for width () or 'x40px' for height (). You can also add '|left', '|right', '|center', '|none' to stick the picture to a specific part of the screen. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images/en for a more complete tutorial of everything you can do. --Legate (talk) 13:54, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Good progress! You can also use "{{clear|left}}, {{clear|right}}, {{clear|both}}" to ensure that there is nothing to the left/right/either side of the pic. Just add that text the line above the file lines you have. --Legate (talk) 18:53, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Adding artifacts to heroes
Add artifact to hero (HotA).png I can't get this to work. Is this a bug? How do you add artifacts to heroes in the map editor? Are you supposed to be able to click somewhere? Should there be a button? 15:22, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- yup, definitely a bug. its missing 'Add', 'Edit', 'Remove' and 'Remove all' buttons
- Does your editor properly show the buttons? Could it be a Windows 10 problem? I tried running as admin and some other compatibility options but all it did was make my screen really small (or big? idk). 16:52, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- all i can say its not the win 10 thing. im using roe, ab, complete and two hota editors without any extra compatibility fun and ive never seen something like that before. --GroundhogYear (talk) 17:09, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Definitely a bug. Try another version of the editor. This window should be pretty much the same in all game versions & operating systems - I have tested it on PC w/ Win10 and laptop w/ XP, so if other editors too have missing buttons, there is something VERY wrong with your Windows or map editor files. This is how it looks on my XP laptop (WoG editor, not that it should matter):

If there are other places where your editor is missing buttons, maybe your game files are somehow corrupted -Fafner (talk) 19:41, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- ok yeah i just booted up a windows xp virtual box and used a shared folder to open the same files and they appear just fine. The issue seems to be with my windows 10. I did play around with UI fonts so I'm guessing something got messed up there... 23:49, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- I booted up a new windows 10 virtual box and it works fine too. So just something wrong with my current windows 10 setup. 08:05, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
