Talk:Heroes from other games

I'm all for tables, but this one looks horribly messy compared to the simple list we had before. The portraits are already on the heroes' pages now - I think I prefer the previous list unless we can tidy this up. 23:31, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

• Other ideas:
  • Add "|frame" to the picture descriptions to always show the caption.
  • Change images to something like this:

Portraits

• The 58x64 are bad quality, personally I would change them to 101x93 what do you guys think?
  • They are not bad quality as they are taken directly from the game's files and downscaled without aliasing to preserve their original style; in their original size they would not nicely fit in with the rest of the pages and templates without becoming blurred when resized and losing the homogeneous design of the template/page 12:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

Maximus

I'm not sure if Maximus should be in the table as it seems that like with Kastore there is two (one from Enroth and one from Terra) of them: https://mightandmagic.fandom.com/wiki/Maximus_(Enroth)

This Maximus is the same one - his design is the same despite the difference in art styles. Similarly, Balfour is a reference to Heroes IV where you play as Tawni Balfour, who is this Balfour's (adopted) daughter (Tevye, a HOTA crew member, confirmed this). 23:52, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Tevye has since confirmed: "To clear things up, we are aware that Maximus of Enroth from H1 and H2 and Maximus of Terra from MM7 are not the same person; Maximus from All In is the latter, but he is similar enough to the former in appearance, so we decided to incorporate some features from both in our portrait, for better in-HoMM coherence." – so the person is not the same, you are correct, and they merged the styles of both into Maximus (Terra)'s new appearance! 03:25, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

Now that the page is called Heroes from other games it seems we should include the heroes who appear in Heroes 4 (and in M&M I-IX if there are any). This However will make the list very long. These are all the heroes we would have to include, assuming I didn't miss any:

Discussion

• Interesting - I didn't know there were so many reused in H4 (i.e. heroes that survived the Reckoning). For the M&M games, it should only be mm6-8 as those are the only ones on Enroth, but no guarantees. Based on the lore I have seen, I believe Catherine/Roland should appear in mm8. --Legate (talk)

• There's also the matter of Heroes II for Game Boy Color, which despite the name is not a port of the main Heroes II game. It re-uses a lot of Heroes III graphics (heavily compressed) including dozens of heroes with their according portraits. But then, I don't know if that game has anything resembling canonicity, let alone whether it's relevant for this page as it's currently used. 1760s (talk) 18:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

• Perhaps we can have a separate table for Heroes IV heroes, running alongside this main one? There's very little overlap so I think it may be better to have it separate, so there aren't a bunch of single entries amongst the rest of the heroes. 19:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Same but different

Two of these hero portraits are very unlike the "original" they're supposed to be based on, and the same applies to the character concept. I'm referring to Valeska and Ajit, as depicted in Ashan. Are these meant to be the same character, if their race or class are completely different? Valeska is clearly an Angel and Ajit is a Barbarian. - Csaros (talk) 20:06, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

Falagar

Perhaps we should add him, as one can say that Falagar is present in Heroes III through The Mandate of Heaven scenario. On the other hand, it could look a bit weird not having an H3 portrait, but still not something out of the question, I think. Could be elaborated in the notes section of the page.
