Don't worry too much about making mistakes. All changes are recorded and easily reverted.

Spam/Trash/Garbage/Delete

Make these things into redirects to provide a sort of pseudo deletion. Redirects are less visible in places than pages. For instance Special:AllPages has the ability to hide redirects.
In addition to turning these into redirects they can also be moved to their parent page as a subpage renamed to a few random numbers and letters, i.e. [[Delete/dht3hwh9]] for even better pseudo deletion.
