Chain Lightning is a 4th level spell in the School of air magic. It strikes up to four or five troops causing full damage for the initial target, and halving for each target after that.

The closest target to the initial target becomes the second target for the spell. This is the method for the spell to select all of its targets. If two targets are considered to be at equal distance, then the target is randomly chosen.

However, it will only target a stack once. If the spell is resisted after it has already struck at least one target, it will continue arcing to the next target.

Solmyr the Wizard specializes in chain lightning.

Units immune to its effects

Units extra vulnerable to its effects

Artifacts that render units immune to its effects

Similiar Spells that cover areas but not single targets

Meteor Shower which does not arc but covers hexes instead.

Armageddon, Death Ripple (living units) vs Destroy Undead (undead units) as spells which damage the whole combat field (even own units).
