This is an idea for something to do with the Table of Contents. It adds a TOC button in the black area near the top of the page that can overlay the main content of the page when clicked. Can obviously position/modify this as desired, but at least for now something in the header prevents it from being clicked when moved farter up the page. Also might more sense on the left sidebar as opposed to the top. Thoughts? --Legate (talk) 13:59, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Pros:

  • TOC doesn't take up room in the body of the page
  • Probably can figure out some way of automatically adding his to all pages.
  • TOC can be accessed easily regardless of how far the page is scrolled.
    • This is assuming we put it in the left side panel (or make the top panel not scroll out of view).

Cons:

  • Users have to learn how to access the new form of the TOC.
    • Can probably be mitigated by making some fancy/eye-catching graphic

  • I think the default TOC is fine since it's collapsible and something that people are used to, plus it works without issue. I know there's not much you can do to alter it aside from theming it differently, but it's simple and gets the job done. This new element you've made can be moved to the correct place and formatted properly font-wise, but with the way that H3CSS works, it will never be in the correct place for either H3CSS or the default website, since H3CSS shifts elements around to begin with. No other wiki or website I've seen has a table of contents that isn't in the main body and I think even if it was possible to have it elsewhere, it doesn't make sense to throw the user experience out the window for the gimmick. → Phasma 16:28, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
