== Story ==

Former pupil of {{Hn|Ethric|image=Ajit|0=}}. Former best friend of {{Hn|Jeddite|0=}}. Teacher of {{Hn|Vidomina|0=}}. Sandro (or self-identified as '''Sandro the Great''') is a powerful lich with plans to take over the world. He is the main and most important character of [[Shadow of Death]].

In [[Shadow of Death]], Sandro began his plans to take over the world by disguising himself as a wizard and hiring/tricking several heroes into recovering artifacts for him:

* {{Hn|Crag Hack|0=}} (success)  - {{An|Armor of the Damned}}
* {{Hn|Tyranell|image=Orrin|0=}} (fail) - {{An|Statue of Legion}}

Once he has the [[Cloak of the Undead King]] and the [[Armor of the Damned]], he enacts the second phase of his plan. He reveals himself as a necromancer, allies with {{Hn|Finneas|0=}} and takes on {{Hn|Vidomina|0=}} as an apprentice. He fights his way to [[Deyja]] where he and [[Finneas]] are welcomed into the king's inner circle. In short order, Sandro disposes of the reigning king and installs Finneas as a puppet.

Sandro then assassinates several border lords ([[Lord Fayette]] and [[Lord Falorel]]) and begins using the armies of Deyja and the power of his artifacts to prepare for an invasion of [[Erathia]] and [[AvLee]]. He is opposed, however, by four heroes: {{Hn|Gelu|0=}}, {{Hn|Gem|0=}}, {{Hn|Yog|0=}} and {{Hn|Crag Hack|0=}}. These heroes assemble the {{An|Angelic Alliance}} and, using it, manage to defeat Sandro and recover the [[Cloak of the Undead King]] and the [[Armor of the Damned]] from him. They disperse the components of these artifacts throughout [[Antagarich]] to end their corrupting influence.

Thwarted, but still dreaming of world conquest, Sandro hatches another plan. He smuggles poison to {{Hn|Lord Haart|0=}} with which he assassinates [[King Nicolas Gryphonheart]] of [[Erathia]]. He also makes alliances with [[Nighon]] and [[Eeofol]]. He funds the [[dungeon overlords]]' construction of a tunnel into the heart of Erathia and recovers the {{An|Eversmoking Ring of Sulfur}} for the devils to ensure the support of their armies. As one of the last steps to prepare for the invasion, [[Finneas]] secretly tasks Sandro with removing an over-ambitious Deyjan lord, [[Lord Smedth]]. Once Sandro does, Finneas reveals this as his plan for getting rid of Sandro and imprisons him for assaulting an innocent lord. Setting the stage for [[Restoration of Erathia]], Finneas, the necromancers, the [[dungeon overlords]] and the devils invade Erathia.

In [[Season of Harvest]], Sandro is released from prison to aid in the assault on [[Erathia]].

Sandro appears in the "Lost Tales of Axeoth: Every Dog Has His Day" campaign. Even on [[Axeoth]], Sandro has not given up his plans to take over the world. He learns that [[Dogwoggle]] is in possession of a magical artifact capable of destroying the world. He attempts to take it and blackmail everyone into accepting his rule, but is thwarted yet again.

=== Historical counterpart ===
A character named Sandro was [[Truth Within Nightmares|defeated]] by [[Tarnum]]'s Erathian forces in the [[Underworld]]. Although represented by Sandro in-game, he is probably only a namesake, since according to Ethric and Jeddite, their Sandro became a necromancer decades before the [[Restoration Wars]], and those events happened centuries prior. Also, the scenario description strongly hints that Tarnum killed the Underworld Sandro.
