War Mammoth have the highest health of all level 6 creatures and tie for highest defence value with [[Dread Knight]]. Their attack and damage are below average. However, they are rather cheap and with the Hay Bins building increasing creature growth by 1 (to 5 per week in a town with a Castle) they have the highest growth among level 6 creatures, this makes it easy to generate a very powerful stack of mammoths.

Dread Knights are considered the second strongest Lvl 6 creature individually (after [[Naga Queen]]). In a matchup of 5 War Mammoth vs. 4 Dread Knight without any buffs or boosts, the mammoth are very likely to be victorious with 2 mammoth left as long as they continously Defend.

Against Naga Queens the mammoths have no chance, due to the Naga ability. They need significant buffs (from hero A/D, skills, spells) or a large numerical advantage to win the fight. 4 Naga Queens will kill 5 War Mammoth with a single loss.

Their weakness is their slow speed, which can be mitigated with [[Creyle]] as hero. It of course lines up perfectly with Defending and generating runes while waiting for the enemy to approach, but if you need to be aggressive with them it can be worthwhile to split off a single [[Jotunn]] to teleport a stack of Mammoth forward.
