import information from 'Tribute to Strategists'[edit | hide | hide all]
I added more information to this page, but the page would be much more accurate when the information from Rainalkar's 'Tribute to Stragists' (see External Links) would be imported, in particular the graphs and formulas. -Entelechy.
Skill Description.[edit | hide]
So, in the manual, it says what it says currently in the article ("Basic Diplomacy.png Basic Diplomacy: 25% of creatures normally fleeing from your army offer to join. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 20%.", "Advanced Diplomacy: 50% of creatures normally fleeing from your army offer to join. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 40%." and "Expert Diplomacy: All creatures normally fleeing from your army offer to join. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 60%." for each level of expertise.
However, in game, it only says "Basic Diplomacy allows you to negotiate with monsters who are weaker than your group, and reduces the cost of surrendering by 20%", "Advanced Diplomacy allows you to negotiate with monsters who are weaker than your group, and reduces the cost of surrendering by 40%" and "Expert Diplomacy allows you to negotiate with monsters who are weaker than your group , and reduces the cost of surrendering by 60%".
I feel like both descriptions should be in the article, even if only one of them is in the description boxes at the right side of the article (perhaps, "Although the manual states x, the ingame descriptions are y" or something). Ibraesil (talk) 12:00, 2 December 2015 (CET)

Old Diplomacy in HotA[edit | hide]
32. Diplomacy functions differently in HotA starting from version 1.6.0. Only half of neutral troops can join, and it is never for free. Is it possible to choose the old settings again? Briefly speaking: yes, it is. But note that no changes are made to the Diplomacy secondary skill itself, just more flexible tuning is added and default values are adjusted. Chance of joining the neutral troops is regulated by their Disposition value, ranging from 1 to 10. Original presets comprised the following ranges: Compliant (1, always join), Friendly (1-7, likely to join), Aggressive (1-10, may join), Hostile (4-10, not likely to join), Savage (10, never join). But HotA enables to set exact custom values. Besides this, “Join only for money” and Joining Percent options are added. On fixed maps: Default disposition is Aggressive (1-10). “Join only for money” is disabled. Joining Percent is 100%. You can set it for every separate neutral monster in the map editor. On random maps: Default disposition is Hostile (4-10). In HotA “Join only for money” is enabled, Joining Percent is 50%. In original games “Join only for money” is disabled, Joining Percent is 100%. You can set it for every separate zone in the template editor, in “Monsters” section. Multiple zones batch editing is possible, to do so select multimple zones by dradding a box around them, right-click and select Zone Settings. Note also that the original defaults are set on Anarchy template, which has Diplomacy identical to original HoMM III games.
