Sanctuary is an adventure map location, where a visiting hero cannot be attacked by enemy heroes. It is free to visit the Sanctuary, but it can be visited by only one hero at a time.

The protection of the Sanctuary and the fact that a hero can remain there indefinitely, may make it advantageous to reach stratgically located Sanctuary first and keep a hero located there. Another tactic is to gather all the gold or resource generating artifacts on one hero, and move him to the safety of the Sanctuary. |
