A boat allows heroes to move over water. Boarding or disembarking from a boat takes the remainder of a hero's movement allowance for the current day. A boat can only carry one hero and their army at a time. It is impossible to disembark on a shoreline to square with a hole in it. However, boarding is possible from a square with hole in it.
Boats can be build on shipyards, which are always located next to a shoreline. Additionally, castle, necropolis and fortress towns can build shipyards if the town is next to a shoreline.
