Growth
Growth (also creature growth) typically refers to an increase in creature dwellings in towns, which occurs at the beginning of each week. The growth depends on several factors, but the main one is the level of the creatures. For creature levels five to seven the so called basic growth in towns are three, two and one. For creature levels one to four, the growth depends on town type.
Citadel increases the basic growth rate by 50% while castle increases it by 100%. The growth bonus of citadel and castle is calculated last, on top of every other bonuses. All town types have horde buildings which can significantly increase the basic growth rate. Additionally, every flagged external dwelling increase the rate of same creature type and level by one in appropriate towns. For example, owning a guardhouse increases pikeman/halberdier growth by one in every castle. Also parts of legion (e.g Head of Legion) and Statue of Legion can affect the growth.
In towns, the Citadel and Castle structures increase the growth of every dwelling present in that particular town. The Citadel increases the growth by 50%, and Castle doubles the normal growth. For example, if you have a creature dwelling with a growth of 10 and you build a Citadel in that town, the growth becomes 15, and if you also build Castle, it becomes 20. There are also some additional structures and Artifacts which increase the growth of particular creatures in the town.
In towns, the new creatures that become available each week are added to those that are already available in the dwelling. In contrast, the population of External Dwellings is reset every week, so if there were any non-purchased creatures left in an external dwelling at the end of the week, they are all lost on day 1 of the next week, and a new population becomes available. However, in WoG, there is a special ERM script which allows you to change this behaviour.
Also note that each external creature dwelling you own adds 1 to the growth of the corresponding creature in every town of yours. For example, if you own an external Gnoll Hut, the growth of all Gnolls and Gnoll Marauders in every Fortress town of yours is increased by 1(This is counted AFTER the Citadel/Castle bonus).
During the game some special events can occur. One of them is month of. This is when several stacks of particular creature appear on map. Also population of the creature in town, where is dwelling of the creature, doubles. Other event which has impact on growth of creatures is month of plague. It causes that every remaining population in town dwellings since previous week is being halved unless there is horde building (f.e. Sculptor's Wings) built. No other population grows in that week. Also wandering stacks are not being halved. Plague occurs ONLY on the first day of month so it's better to recruit all creatures in week 4 on day 7. Also week of can occur. It means that population of particular creature is risen by 5 in that week. After constructing of Deity of Fire in Inferno town is every week the Week of Imp and growth of Imps and Familiars is risen by 15. None of these affects External Dwellings.
Growth for wandering stacks is risen up by 10% a week. If stack begins with 15 creatures then next week the number is 15+10%=16.5 (displaying 16). In week 3, it goes like this: 16.5+10%=18.15 (displaying 18) In week 4: 18.15+10%=19.965 (displaying 19) and so on...
Some changes have been made through HOMAM 3 expansions.
