Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era 2025
(Early Access)
600s AS ??? Jadame ??? (The story has not yet been released. Announced as a "return to the world of Enroth". [1])
Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest 1995 1110s AS Enroth Lord Morglin Ironfist is forced to flee his homeworld of VARN-4 through a magical portal after his cousin Ragnar Ironfist usurped the throne. Morglin finds himself along with his few followers in a strange and uncharted land, called Enroth. Rulership of the land is contested by Morglin and three other warlords: the barbarian Lord Slayer, the sorceress Queen Lamanda, and the warlock Lord Alamar. Lord Ironfist, leader of the knight faction, defeats his three opponents and founds a new kingdom of Enroth.

This conflict came to be known as the First War of Enrothian Succession.

NOTE: The other warlords can also be played, but the canonical ending is victory by Morglin Ironfist.

Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars 1996 1150s AS Enroth Upon the death of King Morglin Ironfist, his two sons, Archibald and Roland, vie for the crown. Archibald orchestrates a series of events that lead to Roland's exile. Archibald is then declared the new king, while Roland organizes a resistance. Roland is ultimately victorious, with Archibald being turned to stone by Roland's court wizard, Tanir.

This conflict came to be known as the Second War of Enrothian Succession.

NOTE: Archibald can also be played, but the canonical ending is victory by Roland.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death 2000 1160-1164 AS Antagarich Sandro the Necromancer, begins a plot to reassemble two ancient and powerful necromantic artifacts. Using illusionary magic to take the form of a living human, he convinces the sorceress Gem and barbarian Crag Hack to find the pieces of the two artifacts for him, promising rewards in return. Unaware of Sandro's true nature, they agree to aid him in wresting the pieces away from other necromancers. However, once secured by the unwitting heroes, the pieces are spirited away by Sandro without fulfilling his end of the bargain. He reassembles the pieces into two whole artifacts, the Cloak of the Undead King and the Armor of the Damned.

With the Cloak and the Armor in his possession, Sandro battles the vengeful armies of his former warlock master, Ethric, and passes onward into the undead lands of Deyja. There, he vaults a puppet king, Finneas Vilmar, to the throne, attaining full political control of the undead lands. From there, he begins his plan to conquer the rest of the continent.

Some time later, amidst the war against the undead, the heroes Gem, Gelu, Yog and Crag Hack band together to combat the threat. To aid them in this effort, they assemble the Angelic Alliance, a mighty sword. They push onward into Deyja, eventually cornering Sandro and defeating him. The heroes once again disperse the pieces of the necromantic artifacts as they part ways.

A final bonus campaign features Sandro after his defeat. The necromancer plots a second invasion, this time aimed squarely at Erathia. With the help of Lord Haart, he has King Nicolas Gryphonheart poisoned, and forms an alliance between Deyja, the Kreegans and Nighon against the human lands. However, he is tricked and imprisoned by his own puppet king, Finneas Vilmar, who then leads the invasion of Erathia which takes place during Restoration of Erathia.

Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven 1998 1161-1165 AS Enroth On the Night of Shooting Stars the Kreegans invade Enroth letting their meteor-like spaceships fall from the Void. The king of Enroth, Roland Ironfist, departs north with an army seeking to attack the devil-like creatures, but he is betrayed by a traitorous air mage named Sulman. Roland's forces are ambushed by an enormous Kreegan army, and he, his court wizard Tanir, and the noble Sir Ragnar are captured, while the rest of the Enrothian forces are devastated. The Kreegan king Xenofex secretly establishes the Temple of Baa, a doomsday cult dedicated to removing the Ironfist dynasty from power. With their king missing, his wife Queen Catherine having recently sailed to her homeland of Erathia to attend her father's funeral, and their young son, Prince Nicolai, left to rule the kingdom alongside Regent Wilbur Humphrey, the people of Enroth begin to fear that the Ironfists have lost the "Mandate of Heaven" (the divine right to rule).

The four player characters are from the town of Sweet Water, which is attacked and overwhelmed by the Kreegan invaders. Falagar, a powerful warlock, intervenes and teleports them to safety, where he trains them until they are ready to make their own path in the world. They discover Sulman's corpse in an abandoned goblin camp with a letter addressed to him from Xenofex, and present it to Regent Humphrey in Castle Ironfist. Humphrey rewards them and asks their help in seeking out King Roland. They seek the guidance of the Oracle of Enroth but must first repair it as it was damaged by Archibald in the Succession Wars.

Once repaired, the Oracle explains to them the backstory of the Ancient-Kreegan war, and permits them to retrieve anti-Kreegan blasters. The Oracle also tells the heroes that before they can destroy the Kreegans, they require a spell capable of preventing the explosion of their ship from also destroying the planet. As only Archibald knows this spell, he is released, and Archibald gratefully gives it to them before teleporting away.

Finally, the player characters return to their ruined hometown of Sweet Water and attack The Hive, the largest of the meteorite-like spaceships the Kreegans arrived in. They destroy The Hive's reactor core and conjure the spell to contain the explosion, eliminating The Hive and the Kreegans on the continent while sparing the land from the reactor's wave of destruction.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia 1999 1165-1167 AS Antagarich Following her marriage to King Roland Ironfist of Enroth in Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, Catherine becomes a Queen. In the meantime, her father, King Nicolas Gryphonheart, is assassinated. Without their beloved King, the kingdom of Erathia falls to the dark forces of Nighon and Eeofol. Queen Catherine returns home seeking to rally the people of her homeland and lead them against the evil that has ravaged their nation.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Krewlod and Tatalia fight each other over the Erathian border land. Catherine's first task is to establish a foothold in the conquered kingdom by enlisting the aid of allies. Bracada and AvLee answer her call, and together they push towards Steadwick and eventually retake it. In the meantime, Deyja, having been responsible for the assassination of King Gryphonheart, plot to revive his corpse as a lich. They plan to use his wisdom in leading their own armies of undead, but King Gryphonheart's will proves too much for the necromancers and he becomes a rogue lich. Having little other recourse, Queen Catherine is forced to ally herself with the necromancers and together they destroy the Lich King Gryphonheart.

An epilogue campaign tells the story of separatists living along the border between Erathia and AvLee. Tired of the border skirmishes ravaging their homelands, they join together and fight for independence, forming the new nation of the Contested Lands.

This conflict came to be known as the Restoration Wars.

Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor 1999 1168-1170 AS Antagarich Following the events of Might and Magic III, the Adventurers of Terra crashes their spaceship, Lincoln into the waters off the coast of Antagarich. After coming ashore, the party fell into disagreement over their mission. Resurectra, Robert the Wise, Crag Hack and Sir Caneghem wanted to rebuild a forgotten Gate created by the Ancients, capable of transporting them anywhere in the universe. The others, Kastore, Tolberti, Dark Shade and Maximus, wanted to revive the Ancients' broken Heavenly Forge, capable of creating futuristic weaponry beyond compare, and use it to conquer Enroth. The adventurers split into two separate parties and depart. This strange event was witnessed by groups of elves and goblins who report back to Gavin Magnus (the immortal Grand Vizier of Bracada) and Archibald Ironfist (now the king of Deyja), respectively. Intrigued with what they hear, both leaders order a search for the strange beings.

Meanwhile, on Emerald Isle, there is a scavenger hunt for adventurers, with first prize being the deed to Castle Harmondale on the mainland and its surrounding township. A new party of four player characters takes up the challenge and wins the competition, becoming the new Lords of Harmondale. Unfortunately, not only is the castle in dreadful state of disrepair, it also lies in disputed territory claimed by both AvLee and Erathia. After the player repairs the Castle, both Queen Catherine of Erathia and King Eldrich Parson of AvLee ask for their help in the dispute, specifically by performing a feat of espionage that can gain them an advantage. The party find themselves either doing so within a period of a month, or letting their rival know of what they were asked to do. Eventually, a major fight between the two kingdoms erupts in the Tularean Forest over who gets to recover an important artifact - Gryphonheart's Trumpet. If the player manages to get it before the conflict ends, the party face the decision of handing the trumpet over to one of the leaders, granting that kingdom victory in the dispute over Harmondale, or passing it on to Judge Grey, thus granting Harmondale independence from both kingdoms. Otherwise, Erathia wins Harmondale by default. Regardless of the allocation of Harmondale, the greater conflict over the Contested Lands as a whole continues. A few months after the war begins, Judge Grey passes away from natural causes, leaving the party to find a suitable replacement.

Faced with deciding between either Judge Fairweather, a representative of the wizards of Bracada, or Judge Sleen, a representative of the necromancers of Deyja, the party's choice eventually decides the outcome of the war. If Judge Sleen is chosen, he does nothing to prevent tempers from flaring, the war worsens and the necromancers use the corpses of the fallen to make an undead army. If Judge Fairweather is chosen, he helps the humans and elves come to a peaceful agreement by proposing they put the border halfway between what each monarch suggested, and thus ends their war over the Contested Lands. Depending on the player's choice, the party meets with either Gavin Magnus in Celeste or Archibald in The Pit and their mysterious new advisors. The advisors eventually reveal themselves to be the Terrans who recently arrived on Enroth. Kastore's party secured places in Deyja beside Archibald, while Resurectra's party formed an alliance with Gavin Magnus of Bracada. To complete their mission, both groups need the Oscillation Overthruster from their crashed spaceship.

Before the party can retrieve the device, they find themselves having do battle against the diabolical Kreegan and eliminate their monarch, Xenofex. During this mission, the party receives a message from Archibald informing them that Kastore has deposed him and taken control of the Deyja. Having become weary and guilt-ridden for his past crimes, he asks the players to enter the Kreegan fortress of Colony Zod and rescue his brother Roland, in the hopes that freeing her husband will lift a death sentence put on Archibald by Catherine. Rescuing Roland and defeating Xenofex, the party watch as the Ironfists reunite, before Archibald renounces his claim to Enroth's throne and departs in peace.

With the Kreegans dealt a blow, the party ventures onto the submerged Lincoln, battling droids and finally retrieving the Oscillation Overthruster. The story ends depending on the party's path. If working with Resurectra, they use the Overthruster to complete the Gate, thus being transported to a neighboring space station from which they can go anywhere in the Ancients' network of Gates. If the player is working with Kastore, they use the Overthruster to revive the Heavenly Forge, thus producing an endless supply of futuristic weaponry capable of dominating the world.

NOTE: The canonical story is working with Resurectra's group. Working with Kastore was planned to be canonical and lead to the emergence of a high-tech Forge faction in Armageddon's Blade, but the Forge town was scrapped in favor of the Conflux.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss Horn of the Abyss 2011-2024 1162-1171 AS Antagarich
Jadame
The 5 Campaigns are mainly split into 2 separate stories with an interlude between.
Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade 1999 1164 AS
1171 AS
Antagarich Following the death of the Kreegan king, Xenofex, a usurper named Lucifer Kreegan takes control of Eeofol and, driven by a vision, begins to seek a means to fashion an ancient weapon known as Armageddon's Blade, capable of setting the world on fire. His general Xeron is tasked with locating the components for the Blade. To stop him, the armies of Erathia and AvLee launch an attack on Eeofol, receiving assistance from the very elements as they manifest in "Conflux" towns. Queen Catherine and the recently liberated King Roland are assisted by the mysterious elven warrior Gelu in the ensuing war. Xeron obtains the Blade but is defeated by Gelu on his return to Eeofol. Gelu claims the Blade, and, at the behest of Queen Catherine, uses it to slay Lucifer Kreegan. Following this event, the Ironfists return to Enroth and the Blade is passed on to Gelu. This conflict came to be known as the War of the Blade.

Four of the other five campaigns are the origin stories of characters important to The Reckoning: Mutare (who becomes the Dragon Queen of Nighon), Dracon (the greatest Dragon Slayer ever to live), Adrienne (the fire witch of Tatalia), and Kilgor (a ruthless Barbarian king).

The final campaign is a the origin story of Christian and a prelude to Restoration of Erathia.

Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer 2000 1172-1176 AS Jadame Over a thousand years ago, at the time of The Silence, the interstellar war between the Ancients and the demon-like Kreegans drove both races off of Enroth, one of the Ancients' many colony worlds. When the Kreegans returned in the Night of Shooting Stars, the Ancients enacted a scorched earth plan: rather than let the world fall into the hands of their enemies, they would see it destroyed outright.

An android servant of the Ancients, the planeswalker Escaton, arrives in the village of Ravenshore on the continent of Jadame. Approaching the center of town, he summons a giant crystal which unleashes an elemental storm across the continent. There is widespread destruction and the boundaries to the four Elemental Planes are breached. Now elementals and monsters from beyond the boundaries are threatening to invade and fulfill Escaton's plan to destroy the world.

Despite the adventurers telling him that the Kreegans had been eradicated, Escaton was unable to stop the program of world destruction once it was initiated, and as such, he instructed the adventurers to destroy the means by which he was to purge the world. The adventurers manage to free the Elemental Lords, who in turn manage to stop the destruction and return their creatures to the Elemental Planes.

(Heroes of Might and Magic III): Heroes Chronicles 2000
2001
100s AS
1173-1176 AS
Antagarich This is a series of stand-alone games/campaigns that follow the story of Tarnum - the Immortal Hero resurrected by the Ancestors to serve in Enroth's time of need.
  • Warlords of the Wasteland (100s+ AS): Before Tarnum became the Immortal Hero, he was a Barbarian who threw off the shackles of his Wizard masters and returned his people to their former greatness. His actions as a barbarian tyrant caused the Ancestors to bar him entry to Paradise upon his death. They sent him back to Enroth as the immortal hero to atone for his crimes.
  • Conquest of the Underworld (100s+ AS): The Ancestors send Tarnum to help his niece, Queen Allison, rescue the soul of her father, Rion Gryphonheart, from the depths of the Underworld.
  • Masters of the Elements (100s+ AS): Tarnum must face down his own prejudice against magic and become a Wizard if he has any chance of saving the world from the destructive Elemental Lords.
  • The World Tree (100s+ AS): Tarnum is drawn to a distant region to save the World Tree from the Necromancers. He ends up facing the insane Ancestor, Vorr, who has kidnapped the other Ancestors and plans to destroy the world.
  • The Fiery Moon (100s+ AS): Tarnum pursues Vorr to the fiery moon. He frees the other ancestors and uses the sap of the World Tree to cure Vorr of his madness.
  • Revolt of the Beastmasters (100s+ AS): To atone for dragging the Mudlanders into slavery as the Barbarian Tyrant, Tarnum was tasked with freeing them from the oppression of the Erathians. Through his efforts, the kingdom of Tatalia was created.
  • Clash of the Dragons (1173 AS): When the good dragons disappear, Tarnum is drawn into an epic battle with Mutare, the Dragon Queen.
  • The Sword of Frost (1176 AS): The Elven Hero, Gelu, sets out to find the arcane Sword of Frost despite an apocalyptic prophecy. Now, the fate of the world depends on Tarnum's ability to rekindle his darkest talents and lead the devious creatures of Nighon against his former friend. Tarnum fails in this quest as the Sword of Frost is stolen by Kija and given to her husband Kilgor, thus setting Gelu and Kilgor on a collision course that would end with The Reckoning.
Heroes of Might and Magic III: Day of Reckoning Day of Reckoning (not yet released) 1177 AS ??? Antagarich ??? (The story has not yet been released. Presumably, this will tell the story of Gelu (wielder of Armageddon's Blade) and Kilgor (wielder of the Sword of Frost) and the lead-up to The Reckoning.)

NOTE: The planet of Enroth is rendered uninhabitable during The Reckoning in 1177 AS. Heroes of Might and Magic IV and Might and Magic IX are set in Axeoth, the world to which the survivors of The Reckoning fled. Later, Ubisoft has rebooted the series and set (most of) the following games in Ashan. However, some fans consider it to be a world in the NWC universe.

NOTE: Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty was released in 1997 as an expansion to Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars. This expansion seems to be a set of 4 campaigns that do not reference any canon events or any locations on Enroth (planet).

  • Price of Loyalty: The player controls a nameless hero of the Empire, who discovers that an old friend, viscount Kraeger, is plotting treason, and is gathering the pieces of the Battle Garb of Anduran to attack the Emperor. The player must reach the pieces first, and then protect the Empire from both external and internal threats.
  • Voyage Home: Chronicles the knight Gallavant's journey home, his fight with pirates and the civil war he found his kingdom plunged into on his return.
  • Descendants: Follows the Jarkonas line as they found a kingdom and vie for power with the nearby kingdom of Harondale.
  • Wizard's Isle: Tells the story of a group of wizards fighting for control of the Fount of Wizardry, which can bring great arcane power.
  • (Wizard's Land): While not technically a campaign, it's sometimes considered one, as the three scenarios tell a coherent story about the wizard Solmyr, and his battle for his freedom.
    • NOTE: This Solmyr is human and not the same as the Heroes of Might and Magic III genie hero Solmyr.

Name Released In-Game Date Location Summary
Might and Magic Mobile 2004 ~500 AS Erathia For centuries, the world of Erathia has been devastated by a war between humans and demons. To make matters worse, the king of the humans is being held prisoner by the demon armies. A young warrior named Ewan is sent to find the king by a mysterious nobleman named Mendes. On his way Ewan encounters Lorean, an elf archer, who helps him on his quest. Kayn, the captain of a group of mercenaries called the Unicorns, later appears and assists them in freeing the king.

The three then set out to kill the demon lord, who escapes after a fight with Ewan. The demon lord is confronted by Kayn; he attempts to make Kayn defect to the demons since the latter is a half-demon, but he reveals that he is not on the humans' side either; he says they are only his "tools". Ewan and Lorean overhear this and leave.

Mendes plans to reveal that Kayn is a half-demon so he will be able to become the king's right-hand man. Kayn overhears this and tells Ewan to meet him at the king's castle. He tells Ewan that Mendes is trying to prevent the return of the king, and has to be killed. Kayn confronts Mendes and kills him; a knight then attacks him and is also killed. Ewan refuses to help Kayn any further and the two get into a fight. They depart, and Kayn is arrested for killing Mendes. A year later, Lorean asks Ewan to help her rescue Kayn, and he agrees. They find Kayn heavily wounded; the demon lord appears and takes Kayn away. Ewan finds them and kills the demon lord and a three-headed dragon. Kayn apologizes for his actions. With the demons defeated, the humans start rebuilding Erathia.

NOTE: This story doesn't align well with canon. A possible attempt is to assume that the demons were not eradicated (or nearly eradicated) in Conquest of the Underworld, but instead remained a powerful force until after this story.

Might and Magic Mobile II 2007 ~500 AS Erathia Prequel to Might and Magic Mobile.
Follows the story of Louis, Ewan's father, in his quest to prevent the resurrection of an evil dragon named Daraka.
