* Based on how Tidewater is depicted in {{mm7}}, and the {{homm3}} campaign map for [[Borderlands]], it appears to be an Erathian enclave within Tatalia, with Erathia being the de-facto rulers of the surrounding area of Tatalia up to the borders of [[Marshland]].
* {{Cn|Troll}} unit later added in {{ab}} was directly based on the trolls of this Tatalia region. The expansion also added [[Azure dragon|a type]] of blue dragon.
* The player character in [[Spoils of War]] is likely a member of the Mercenary Guild, although he may be unrelated.
* The area from [[A Tough Start]] may be located south of Tidewater. Two islands off the Tatalian coast are shown on the map, but only the northern one, with the Tidewater Caverns, is depicted in-game. The southern island bears a resemblance to the island from this scenario.
