** Moreover, apparently some Thieves' Guild info can be displayed in a random rumor based on this line from BTB's hex-editing guide: "Whenever the game initially loads the weekly bartender dialogue, it has a roughly 1 in 3 chance each of a random line from RandTvrn.txt, a random rumor from the map, or one of a clue about the location of the Grail or a random piece of advice from your Thieves Guild (i.e. "X" player makes the most gold). If you wish to change this, the addresses to edit are 0C0118/0C8A0F (21h) and 0C0126/0C8A1D (42h), which are the odds of a rndTvrn line and a map rumor, respectively, out of 64h. These are checked in succession, meaning that a value of 0-20 brings you to one result, 21-41 to another, else you get the grail hint or thieves guild info. If the map has no rumors, it will fail over to RandTvrn advice, as will the grail hint if the map has no obelisks." The offsets and chances he provides are real, but I'd have to look further to see what file is brought up by the so called "Thieves guild info" he mentions. - [[User:Csaros|Csaros]] ([[User talk:Csaros|talk]])

defeated heroes[edit | hide | hide all]

Can we have something about how dead heroes (or heroes that have "abandoned your cause") can end up in taverns? I've seen it happen several times but I know little how it works.

I think this behavior might have been changed in some way in Horn of the Abyss. →ima 18:34, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Valuable Information[edit | hide]

"Default rumors can, for example, reveal the terrain of which the grail is buried or which player has the most artifacts." How so, exactly? Is this related to some of the rumors here?

  • From GENRLTXT.txt:
    • "The Grail may be found in the %s regions of the world." and "The Grail may be found in the %s regions of the underworld." "The ultimate artifact may be found %s." - Csaros (talk)
    • Moreover, apparently some Thieves' Guild info can be displayed in a random rumor based on this line from BTB's hex-editing guide: "Whenever the game initially loads the weekly bartender dialogue, it has a roughly 1 in 3 chance each of a random line from RandTvrn.txt, a random rumor from the map, or one of a clue about the location of the Grail or a random piece of advice from your Thieves Guild (i.e. "X" player makes the most gold). Well, the rumor page does not mention any of this. --Turnam (talk) 20:06, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
