Serpent and Dragon Flies are the level 3 creatures of Fortress. They are recruited from the Serpent Fly Hive.
"These giant, flying insects attack by striking with their tail stingers. Their attacks dispel any beneficial spells affecting their target. In addition, the Dragon Flies have the ability to cast Weakness on their opponent every time they attack." SoD manual
Both flies apply their dispelling ability every time they attack. No creatures are immune to it and it can not be resisted in any way.
Heroes with a specialty[edit | hide | hide all]
- Korbac the Beastmaster has serpent flies as a specialty, which increases the attack and defense skills of any serpent or dragon flies for each level attained after 3rd level and gives them a speed bonus of 1.
Restoration of Erathia and Armageddon's Blade[edit | hide]
In Restoration of Erathia and Armageddon's Blade the statistics of serpent and dragon flies were a bit different. They were changed in Shadow of Death. Their attack and defense were increased and the dragon flies were given the ability to inflict weakness on their targets when they attack. The same changes were applied in the Restoration of Erathia patch 1.3 and Armageddon's Blade patch 2.1.

Upgrade Serpent Flies to Dragon Flies as soon as possible. As third-level creatures both Serpent and Dragon Flies are easy to acquire, and with great speed of 9 or 13 they make excellent creatures for rushing through the map, thus being useful for a supportive/secondary hero. Hero with only Serpent or Dragon Flies in the army will move rapidly to scout areas, and with high spell points and power skill can even get through wandering creatures. Due to their Dispel ability, Serpent and Dragon Flies will be very useful when attacking enemy units buffed with spells such as Bless, Bloodlust, or Haste, which will no longer affect them after the flies strike. Defend these units as they are somewhat fragile, as opposed to Basilisks and Gorgons. There can be even an army made only of Dragon Flies, with dozens in each slot. |
