An Adventure map object where a hero can gain or lose: (Lose applies only where specifically indicated in brackets below.)
- Experience
- Spell Points (gain or lose)
- Luck (+3 to -3)
- Morale (+3 to -3)
- Resources (gain or lose)
- Primary Skills
- Secondary Skills
- Artifacts
- Spells
- Creatures
The contents of the box and any guardians are set by the mapmaker.
The box disappears after a hero successfully opens it.
Comments
- Secondary skills not normally available to a hero class will be learned. For example Leadership can be learned with a Necropolis hero, Death Knights or Necromancers.
- A hero must have the required level of Wisdom to learn any spells that may be in the box.
- Much more common on random maps than custom ones. On random maps, one could the contents to be
- 5000, 10000, 15000, 20000 or 25000 Gold
