In the Wake of Gods (or WoG) is a fan-made expansion for Heroes of Might and Magic III. It comes with improvements to the map editor, new creatures, and most importantly, Event Related Model (ERM) scripting. ERM scripting gives mapmakers the ability to change the function and appearance of any standard map object in the game; for example, a chest could be altered to give more gold/experience than usual, or an object could function as a creature bank. More complex scripts can also be written to create completely new objects or modify/enhance the rules of the game.
The mod requires Shadow of Death or Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete to run.
Features
Commanders
Commanders are special units that assist a hero and fight for them on the battlefield, in addition to the regular army stacks. Each hero's commander will gain experience and skills in battle like the hero does. This is a gameplay element similar to how in Heroes of Might and Magic IV, the hero can participate in the fight directly.
The commander's character sheet can be accessed from the Commander icon
from the Hero's character sheet.
A commander can die in combat, if their hero is not defeated, they can resurrect their fallen commander by visiting a friendly town. By gaining levels and skills, a Commander's stats increase and it becomes more and more powerful. A high-level commander can single-handedly turn the tide of a battle.

New Artifacts

Stacks with other additional strike bonus modifiers.
Ranged creatures do not receive this bonus when making melee attacks.
Torso
Shield

Allied creatures can retaliate against creatures that cannot normally be retaliated against.

Heroes can only enter by Town Portal or Castle Gate but can leave freely.
A town cannot be re-locked for 5 days after it becomes unlocked.
If a player is vanquished, their locked towns will be unlocked for all players the following day.
