Retaliation refers to the counterattack of a stack that has been the target of melee attack. Typically creature stacks have one retaliation per combat round. However, Griffins have two retaliations and Royal Griffins have unlimited number of retaliations. With Counterstrike spell, it is possible for a hero to magically add one extra retaliation per combat turn. For Griffins this means three retaliations.
