Talk:Forge (NWC)
Upcoming HotA town?[edit | hide | hide all]
A few bits of info that make it seem like a Forge town may be in the works:
- From User talk:Kastore (a former HotA Crew member): Factory alignment will be changing to 'Good', which "brings us closer to the possible appearance of an evil faction".
- From Homecoming (HotA): " Todd: “I met Frederick just once, at the time when Floribert and I were put in charge of another, completely insane project of Kastore’s. Hand prostheses outfitted with ripsaws, so that cripples could keep on fighting..."
- The creature being described is shown in the Forge pic below.
- From New Order prologue - The Factory under control of Kastore looks a lot like the Forge shown on this page.
..but all these similarities may just be becasue Factory is based off of the Forge concept! --Legate (talk) 14:11, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- A potential obstacle to HotA getting a "true" Forge town would be that they have used the names Dreadnaught and Juggernaut already, and those were the tier 7 units from the Forge (though with a much different design, that ended up being used for Heroes 4's Dragon Golems). There's a lot of little nods to the original Forge in the Factory town, like how one of the names is New Dolere in homage to the screenshot cited above where the Forge town used the Stronghold town name of Dolere. Anyways, given the time it took for Factory to come out, a new HotA town is unlikely to arrive any time soon. I'd rather take a look at Day of Reckoning, which promised to have the Forge town in addition to the Vori-themed Palace and a third, unspecified town. No idea when it comes out, though. --Turnam (talk) 20:00, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Q: The intro cinematic for Armageddon's Blade is apparently a remnant of the original version of the story with the Forge, or at least inspired by it. The most notable difference is that the Blade is found rather that Forge. Can you tell us more about the intro's conception and inclusion?
A: Originally, the intro cinematic was a teaser trailer made specifically for E3, with the intention to eventually use it for the final game. At the end of the cinematic, instead of finding Armageddon’s Blade, there was supposed to be something akin to high tech ‘Predator vision’ scanning Gelu, Roland, and Catherine. This implication was to set the stage for the Forge as a sci-fi town. After the Forge was cancelled, Armageddon’s Blade was inserted as the replacement.
