Wyverns have unappealing statistics in comparison to other level 6 units, being similar in strength as manticores. Unlike other level 6 creatures, their dwelling can be built extremely early - even as early as day 1, giving players a noticeable early game advantage. Additionally, if there are any Dragon Fly Hives available, the number of wyverns can easily outnumber other level 6 units, becoming the main powerstack of the army - even for factions other than Fortress. The upgrade to wyvern monarchs is extremely good - it grants a 25% increase of damage output, and a very good speed of 11. It also gives a chance to poison the enemy while attacking - which, while being unreliable, can turn the tide of the fight to your favour. However, keep in mind that poisoned creatures will be resurrected faster. Wyvern Monarchs are useful when sieging towns, as they are the strongest flying unit of Fortress. |
