# Find a word from Heroes_Chronicles/Hc1Prev that is also a word from so we can determine whether or not this localization is EN-US or EN-GB.

#* I didn't see anything. The text isn't that long...it might be valid for both. The corrupted text makes it hard to tell though... --Legate (talk) 01:06, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
** For instance, I don't feel the need to hide the lore depending on the switch, though we should keep breaking the lore into different headings/mark it with the appropriate symbol (wh). --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
** As another side note, pages that only apply to hota probably don't need to be hidden based on the switch (e.g. Jeremy) as all links to that page should be hidden, though they could still find it if specifically searching for it. --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
** The idea is mainly to clean up the spell/hero/creature pages and comparison pages such as Comparison of Level 7 Creatures. --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

#* Yes they do have multiple loss conditions, but using both the SoD and HotA map editor on Fall of Sandro, I can't find anything that causes this. Guess we'll have to look into it as to how it's done, but yes, some of the maps definitely have a couple of loss conditions. * You've seen the posts. The sexually weird buy-my-book posts on this wiki added by fresh accounts. And every day or so I see the New Users log with hundreds of new names, each of the same type. "CorneliusPence7" "LolaDelgadillo7" "DebraFortner2" "DonnaFreund74" "LonaHiatt0" "AlicaMacvitie4". NameSurnameNumber. Now I'm not saying all aforementioned are definitely bots or spammers, but they are far more likely to be. Can we do something about it? Make accounts before x days old's new posts don't appear unless approved, or add some question(s) about Heroes 3 (such as "What Town does the Dwarf belong to" in the account-creation of the site to stop spam-bot accounts? - Csaros (talk) 14:15, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

* I talked with imahero about a portion of this a few months ago...there is at least no issue with the # of accounts created. We will not run out of space for new accounts. But, I agree that it would be nice to have something pro-active done about the weird spam pages, instead of just relying on us all to be vigilant and delete them when they appear. --Legate (talk) 16:32, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Vision for global HotA/DoR switches?[edit | hide | hide all]

  • Just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page...Are we only using the switches for things that have an in-game effect or for EVERYTHING related to these mods? --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
    • For instance, I don't feel the need to hide the lore depending on the switch, though we should keep breaking the lore into different headings/mark it with the appropriate symbol (Horn of the Abyss). --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
    • As another side note, pages that only apply to hota probably don't need to be hidden based on the switch (e.g. Jeremy) as all links to that page should be hidden, though they could still find it if specifically searching for it. --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
    • The idea is mainly to clean up the spell/hero/creature pages and comparison pages such as Comparison of Level 7 Creatures. --Legate (talk) 15:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
      • I agree to all your points - I think it's just to hide/show the appropriate content when browsing the important things like heroes and creatures (and spells, I guess) → Phasma 16:07, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Grail special victory condition[edit | hide]

  1. Turnam pointed out that you can win The Road Home but defeating all enemies (which I also verified). The in-game description does not have the "or defeat all enemies" text and there is no option in the Map Editor to toggle the "or defeat all enemies" option for "Build a Grail Structure". Thoughts? Should we show what it says in-game, or how it actually plays? Should we record this as a bug? --Legate (talk) 03:43, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Im pretty sure Maped doesn't allow for it because by default Build a Grail structure can be won by defeating all enemies. - Csaros (talk) 11:57, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
      • See the Map Editor fix I just added if this part of the problem bothers you. - Csaros (talk) 12:06, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

File list search[edit | hide]

Anyone know why the File list is only searchable by username now and not filename anymore?

  • They probably just expect you to use the normal advanced search with only the file box ticked. –imahero 00:13, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
  • Like this: heroes.thelazy.net/index.php?search=solmyr&title=Special%3ASearch&profile=advanced&fulltext=1&ns6=1imahero 00:16, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
  • But yeah, it does seem kinda bad. It couldn't find all the solmyr files in that test. –imahero 00:19, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
  • Using *solmyr* I was able to get two solmyr images. Can you confirm there are only 2 solmyr images on the wiki? –imahero 19:02, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
  • I searched for *well* and only got 2 items (Magic Well.gif and Artifact Wizard's Well.gif), then I searched for *snow* and the first item on the list was Magic Well (snow).gif. So...not working well. --Legate (talk) 20:27, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Backburner/unsolvable proposals[edit | hide]

  1. Can scenarios have multiple loss conditions? Many campaign scenario descriptions are worded this way (e.g. Fall of Sandro). Is there a way to look this up in-game or in the map editor?
    • Yes they do have multiple loss conditions, but using both the SoD and HotA map editor on Fall of Sandro, I can't find anything that causes this. Guess we'll have to look into it as to how it's done, but yes, some of the maps definitely have a couple of loss conditions. → Phasma 01:39, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
      • Map Editor does not work for multiple loss conditions, but recent research by Legate and Sanust shows that the Map Editor does not work for some of the Campaign scenarios, which seem to actually have multiple loss and victory conditions unattainable in the HotA Maped. - Csaros (talk) 14:17, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
  2. Update the creature "parade" map below due to the new and updated creatures.
    • Not sure a newer version of that pic was released? --Legate (talk) 21:36, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
