Mod Design Team (MDT)

The Mod Design Team has created three prominent mods for VCMI: Tides of War, MDT Forge, and Courtyard. Oasis is a project conceived and worked on by Nephretes, a key team member. The team has been absorbed into the larger Day of Reckoning team, where some creatures from Tides of War are set to make a return, such as Dryads, Templars, and Succubi, albeit with various reworks in order to be faithful to the game's design.

Tides of War[edit | hide]

The Tides of War is an expansion created by Mod Design Team for VCMI Project (which was the first VCMI-specific expansion), with it's main gimmick being alternative creatures with an overall mechanic being similar to Heroes IV.

Tides of War content includes: new heroes, alternative creatures (1 per town), new neutral creatures (Mermaid, Ghost (inspired by H2 version), Dread Skipper and Demilich (inspired by the scrapped "Will-o'-the-wisp" unit)), new decorations, two secondary skills (Hexes and Intimidation), new objects (including creature banks), new spells and new menu theme.

Due to engine limitations at the time, the expansion didn't receive any campaign or maps, despite it being planned. Also, a fair amount of other alternative creatures were scrapped. After the release, mod development kind of halted with the team being focused on other projects (which were alts for MDT Forge and an unknown yet announced town dubbed in the community as "MDT Grove" due to creatures having visual similarities with the original WoG Grove). Apparently, there were plans to add more alternatives that didn't come into fruition. Despite that, the mod is considered finished (and any updates are mainly done by avatar or fans), with MDT joining forces with DoR team.
