Unmarked first person texts are generally from Xanthor. Finch's texts are explicitly marked as "-Finch", with Rumors from the Court mentions that its texts are from a random courtier and Dannil Darvin. Also, it is mentioned that Xanthor is knowledgeable on creatures, which fits with the topics of The Rampart and The Inferno. Alternatively, we could mark the narrator as "Unspecified". |

Short Stories
Several of the people who worked on Heroes of Might and Magic III wrote short stories related to the lore. These stories were never incorporated in the game itself, but are referenced in numerous hero bios and other texts.
NOTE: The stories are marked with the era/order they occur in. Stories that are purely lore and make no mention of current events are marked with a '0'.

The Wider Story
Stories from the manuals
Although these works are canonical, many people do not encounter them due to them being in print and not in the game. Included here merely for ease of reference.
Stories from other games
To see a summary of the plots of other games in the series, see List of games set in Enroth (world).
