Elixir of Life is a relic class combination artifact and is equipped in the miscallaneous slot. Combination artifacts were first added in the Shadow of Death expansion.
In addition to the regular bonuses, the Elixir of Life provides a 25% Health bonus to all living creatures in the hero's army. Undead and non-living units are not affected. All affected creatures gain a regeneration ability similar to that of a Troll or Wraith.
Requires the following artifacts to create:
Base Cost: 100.000 gold
The 25% health bonus is calculated using the creature's base health before the other bonuses are added. So for example, Master Gremlins would get just +1 for the 25% bonus, giving them 5 hit points. Then the other bonuses are added in: +4 more points, for a total of 9 health.
The regeneration ability only adds the base number of hit points that a Troll has (40) and does NOT necessarily maximize the hitpoints of the actual creatures affected. The regeneration ability is more powerful on creatures with high health, like Behemoths or other level 7 creatures, or the various Dragons added in Template:AB.
The description is redundant when it says, "Undead or unliving," as Undead creatures are unliving.
