This page is specifically for the Contested Lands nation that formed soon after the Restoration Wars. Much of the Erathia-AvLee and Erathia-Deyja border lands have been disputed since the Timber Wars and are also sometimes called to the Contested Lands. The new nation was established on the border between Erathia and AvLee, near Eeofol.
The Contested Lands nation is represented by the 
Rampart.
Its capital is Welnin. This name also refers to the region around the town, encompassing Cloverfield, Forestdale and Mosswood.

A land in Antagarich long battled over by humans, elves, and other invaders.
After the Restoration Wars, fearing that Erathia and AvLee would resume hostilities with each other and that they would be caught in the crossfire, the inhabitants of the Contested Lands wage a war of their own for independence and ultimately were victorious. Their war, however, was secretly influenced by Archibald Ironfist.
Welnin was established as the independent nation's capitol, with the installation of the Grail cementing its position in the land. Still, by the time of Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor in 1168 AS Erathia and AvLee maintained a very strong presence in the region, contesting the lands around the town of Harmondale. Archibald tried to use this continued conflict to Deyja's advantage.

In 1151 AS, a group of citizens in the Contested Lands claimed to be descendants of the Phynaxian Empire, and demanded their independence, by force if necessary. Catherine Gryphonheart, who at the time was serving in Erathia's army, was forced to take her troops and put down the rebellion. It soon came to light that the whole rebellion was a setup by Erathian General Connel Traxton in an attempt to stop Catherine's swift rise through the ranks of the military.
