General/Ongoing

  1. Help clear the Maintenance Reports for unused/broken/wanted items!
  2. Check out and verify Did you know?#Unverified claims
  3. Look for pages that need help and report them here (e.g. unreadable color scheme, missing info)
  4. Use template:unk "{{unk}}" to mark text we need to fill in. That way all the unknown text will link to that template!
  5. Help clear the pages linking to template:unk by filling in the missing info.

Factory

  1. Clear out Special:WantedFiles

    • It looks as if assets that should be animated gifs are uploaded as a png with all the frames next to each other (e.g. File:Avgarma.png). Is there an easy/automatic way to convert these to gifs?
    • Here is an archive with all the images extracted using MMArchive. MMArchive doesn't have the same limitations as FreeHeroes so you should be able to find everything there. –imahero 23:14, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
  2. Fill in all missing text linked to template:unk
  3. Go through all campaign scenario heroes (see Template:Campaign hero table)
  4. Add probability of occurrence of spells in Factory's Mage Guild
  5. Add Factory puzzle map section to Obelisk
  6. Add factory heroes to Adventure map hero sprites (may just need to rename files/convert to gifs).
  7. Add images of Factory dwellings for unit pages and External dwellings table (HotA), and images of Factory creatures on the adventure map.
    • Possibly redo the Visiting scheme images for Factory dwellings. They're slightly lower quality than the other images on the page, although it's hard to tell. MurlocAggroB (talk) 06:24, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
  8. Add all Forged in Fire campaign scenario map info/events.
  9. Add Quest Gate page and add entry to List_of_adventure_map_objects_(HotA)

Community Requests

  1. Write tips on campaign scenario pages (212.112.111.20)
    • Sometimes there are tips on the main campaign pages under User Commentary. (e.g. Dragon's Blood)
    • I've noticed there are a bunch of strategy/tips on https://mightandmagic.fandom.com/wiki/Tunnels_of_Ice. Should/Can we cite/copy that info here or leave a link to them?
      • The CC BY-SA seems like a very open license. I would just add attribution using the appropriate link (to the edit summary)
  2. Factory's alignment will be switching to Good. Consider swapping the town matrix to Good/Neutral/Evil columns (User talk:46.138.188.145 aka Kastore (former HotA team member))
  3. A page (perhaps Maps/extra) with links to resources with extra maps and overall other external resources (such as h3 assist, etc) could be useful, especially for beginners. Is that allowed with the wiki, though? Can we link f.e. Xenofex's h3assist or maps4heroes and write how they're popular among players? - [[User:Csaros|Csaros]
    • Yes. Anything related to Heroes 3 should be fine here. We already have a list for tools. Individual pages for each tool would also be fine. –imahero 19:16, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

Research/Explain game concepts

  1. Breath Attack could use a diagram of how it works (specifically when attacking straight up or down)

      • This may be affected by Mechanics and Engineers as these are the first 1-tile creatures with a breath attack.
        • ANECDOTE: I did notice a...bug? nuance?...with attacker's Engineers attacking in the down-left direction vs. a 2-tile enemy not hitting the expected second tile. --Legate (talk) 16:11, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
          • Actually, this is related to the pic just above. In the pic, top row, second from the left, I expected there to be a 2nd red arrow going in the down-left direction. The diagram does not have one, which matched the in-game behavior I saw. --Legate (talk) 15:32, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
          • There is a bug (perhaps intended) that if a Mechanic attacks a two hex creature (usually I found it when attacking from the hex right above or right below the 2-hex monster) with the sword-arrow pointing to the direction from which she came to attack, the fire attack follows the direction of her movement and not the direction of the sword-arrow. - Csaros
  2. Obstacle Penalty could use a diagram or explanation of how it works. Is it everything inside the ring wall? Does obstacle penalty disappear when the wall goes down?

Content: Page Creation/Updating

  1. Design a new main page. Save it on [[your user page/main page]] so we can see it. Candidates:
    • Phasma / Makiki / Csaros
    • I won't have time to make a mockup before the new year, but what if we used one of the blank main menu screens from Category:Loading Screens, Box Art, Menus (e.g. File:AB Mutare.png) and added our own icons (e.g. Creatures, Spells, etc.) over on the right? --Legate (talk) 14:15, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

      • You could cheat by slicing up the main page into several images uploaded separately. The buttons could include the portion of the main background they "overlay".   3. Create a Campaign Editor page.
  4. Single scenarios: Add all the timed/object events like seen on the campaign scenarios.

  5. Add right-click text to campaign maps in HC, HotA campaigns (except for Forged in Fire).

      • Isn't it part of the Export Text of the .h3c file? I saw the campaign as an .h3c downloadable [[1]] - [[User:Csaros|Csaros]

  6. Update Factory's build tree to match other towns
  7. Switch campaign cinematics from still images to video. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Extended_image_syntax#Video_files).

File upload/editing

  1. Add the campaign map pictures for each campaign scenario (on the screen where you select the level bonus before the cinematic plays). (Page: e.g. Groundbreaking)
    • Looking for (with the current level colored in and previous levels covered in slashes), not (base pic with nothing colored in)

Notes

  • Use "#*" to add a comment to an item without breaking the numbering.
  • Use <li value="your_number_here"></li> to restart a numeric list if there are breaks in between the numbers (e.g. comments).
