Gem was one of the greatest sorceresses that Enroth had ever seen, serving King Roland Ironfist during the Succession Wars. Shortly after Roland had secured the throne of Enroth, Gem left for Erathia, finding a new home in AvLee.

In the The Shadow of Death campaigns New Beginning and Unholy Alliance, Gem's class is listed as Sorceress though she is still technically a Druid. If you hire Gem in a Tavern in an Unholy Alliance scenario which is dedicated to another hero, you will later be unable to get Gem in a scenario where she is a main character (another Rampart hero will appear instead). The only way to avoid this problem if you for some reason have hired Gem is to get rid of her (e.g by firing).

In Horn of the Abyss, Gem has her starting spell changed on maps without water from Summon Boat to Bless. You can read more here.

Specialty

First Aid specialty only enhances the secondary skill bonuses, not affecting the basic 1-25 healing bonus of First Aid Tent, so the HotA description ("5% per level bonus to First Aid Tent healing efficiency") is not correct.
