Hero class is a characteristic of a hero. It defines the probabilities of primary and secondary skills when leveling up. Additionally, it designates the starting primary skills. There are 16 different hero classes in Restoration of Erathia, two for every town. Armageddon's Blade expansion introduces Conflux, which adds two new classes increasing the number of different classes to 18.

Primary skills[edit]

By default, heroes have standard initial primary skills on level 1, which are defined by the hero class. The table on the right lists all the initial primary skills for each hero class. However, the map-maker can modify them with the map editor.

Secondary skills[edit]

Magic School/Wisdom

  • If a might hero (or an Elementalist) hasn't been offered a Magic school yet, he will be offered one on levels 4, 8, 12… (i.e. every four levels). If he gets offered a Magic school on one of other levels (according to the probability table above), the counter will be reset: e.g. if he is offered Magic school at level 3, it will be also offered on 7, 11, 15…, etc. unless the counter is reset.
  • If a might hero (or an Elementalist) hasn't been offered Wisdom yet, it will be offered on levels 6, 12, 18… (i.e. every six levels). If the counter is reset it just restarts from the reset point.
  • If a magic hero (except an Elementalist) hasn't been offered a Magic school yet, he will be offered one on levels 3, 6, 9… (i.e. every three levels). If he gets offered a Magic school on one of other levels (according to the probability table above), the counter will be reset: e.g. if he is offered Magic school at level 4, it will be also offered on 7, 10, 13…, etc. unless the counter is reset.
  • If a magic hero (except an Elementalist) hasn't been offered Wisdom yet, it will be offered on levels 3, 6, 9… (i.e. every three levels). If the counter is reset it just restarts from the reset point.
  • The above is true when learning a Magic school/Wisdom, or improving the existing one. If there is a conflict, and both Wisdom and Magic school are to appear according to the rule above, then Wisdom has the priority and will appear always.
  • In Hota Horn of the Abyss, rules for learning a Magic school/Wisdom for an Elementalist have been changed to match the rules for magic oriented classes.

Restricted skills

  • If a hero possesses a skill normally unattainable save if born with, or learned through Witch Hut and Scholar (e.g. Water Magic for Barbarians) then his chances of advancement in that skill will be the minimal possible (that is, they equal 1 according to the table).

Aggression level[edit]

Each hero class has a hidden Aggression level. This parameter affects the decisions of AI heroes on Adventure Map to attack neutral creatures or not. An AI hero attacks only if his Aggression level is equal or higher than strength of neutral creature stack, compared to hero's army strength. In this case, the strength of the army is determined by the total AI values of its creatures.

Aggression ≥ Neutral_army_strength ÷ Hero_army_strength
