Battle Mages are the magic heroes of Stronghold.

"Battle Mages are Barbarians with limited spellcasting abilities. While they advance their ability at magic, they also study the arts of war. Battle Mages often wear trophies, gathered from slain foes, from which they derive additional power." RoE manual

As they are heroes of a neutral town, they can get experience by sacrificing both artifacts and creatures on Altar of Sacrifice and in Grotto Horn of the Abyss.

All Battle Mages start with the secondary skill Wisdom. They cannot learn Necromancy and Navigation, which means they can only acquire them from Witch Huts (if allowed), Scholars, Seer's Huts, Pandora's Boxes or Events.
