Story[edit | hide | hide all]
Adrienne is a Fire Witch of Tatalia a land fearful of fire magic. Due to her use of it she is often shunned and mistrusted. Due to this lack of acceptance, Adrienne often studies abroad. She is even rumored to have studied with demons!
One time, when returning to Tatalia from studying with the Clerics in Steadwick, Adrienne discovers that some necromancer is slaughtering the local peasantry to raise an undead army. She attempts to enlist the aid of local Tatalian and Erathian lords, but to almost no avail. The only thing the Erathians offer is the services of Sir Michael, a local knight that is being ransomed by the NightStalkers, provided that Adrienne can free him. This she does, and Sir Michael joins her service.
Adrienne continues to fight the invading necromancer (who turns out to be Haart Lich). When another Tatalian Witch does arrive to help, she is disgusted by Adrienne's use of fire magic and quickly leaves to report this to the Tatalian Leaders. To head this off, Adrienne's lieutenants give her a birthday present - a forged letter from Tiva explaining the situation. As Tiva is a trusted witch, this ploy works and the Tatalians send help to the area. After a fierce campaign, Adrienne finally catches and defeats Haart Lich, returning him permanently to the dead.
Once Haart Lich is defeated, Adrienne enjoys a brief time of respite. She moves to AvLee and is the lover of Tarnum and foster mother of Waerjak for a time. When the Ancestors call Tarnum away, she is left to raise Waerjak alone.

Alternative biography[edit | hide]
The following biography appeared on the official (now-defunct) 3DO website:
- Born near the outskirts of Tatalia, Adrienne has always been fascinated by fire since she first saw it in a campfire. When a lightning strike from a thunderstorm started one of the largest 'swamp fires' in written history, the elders preached fire was a destroyer of nature. Adrienne knew different. Adrienne saw how the fire cleared the dead brush so life could begin anew. She knows fire is part of life's natural cycle, not something outside of nature.
- Though they were enemies of the state, they could teach her fire magic. At fifteen years of age, Adrienne left Tatalia and went to Eeofol where she persuaded some of the clans to teach her what they knew. After two years of study, Adrienne learned fire magic. Adrienne also learned the consequence of elemental imbalance as seen in the hot barren lands of Eeofol. This imbalance was what her people feared... and practiced.
- With her curiosity satiated, and her tolerance of the devils was expended, Adrienne returned to the cool life-filled swamps of Tatalia as war broke out between Tatalia and Erathia.
- Joining her countrymen on the battlefield, Adrienne proved to be 'necessary evil' as she utilized her fire magic to further Tatalia's war effort. In the end, Tatalia was driven back to its borders. People did not remember Adrienne's heroics. They remembered Tatalia was defeated, and Adrienne was a Fire Witch. Shunned for practicing Fire Magic, Adrienne refuses to leave her homeland and still roams the country's borders as a casual outlaw. Looking to help those in need, Adrienne can never go home again, but she will protect it to her dying breath.
Lost Manuscripts[edit | hide]
In 1172 AS, Adrienne is sent as a diplomat to Erathia, requesting an alliance against the aggression of the newly crowned Krewlodian king, Kilgor. The Erathians agreed and Adrienne joined forces with Gelu to fight Kilgor. It is a losing battle, however. In 1176 AS. General Kendal writes:
Tatalia is simply no more. Most of the leaders are gone, we know only of Adrienne and a few others as the last couple of heroes, the king is dead, their troops are numbering in the hundreds and most of their land is scorched beyond recognition.
Less than a year later, Kilgor forces Gelu into a battle, clashing his Sword of Frost against Gelu's Armageddon's Blade, thus bringing about The Reckoning and rendering Enroth uninhabitable.

Adrienne's specialty makes her the only hero that by default starts with an Expert secondary skill. It has no actual gameplay effect in term of that Expert Fire Magic can be removed from her starting skills by the map maker. If Fire Magic was removed and will be learned later by any means it will only be at Basic level. |
