Resurrection is a 4th level spell in the School of Earth Magic. It resurrects dead creatures of the target allied stack.

If your Spell Power and Earth Magic secondary skill level don't allow you to resurrect a creature whose health points limit is too high, it cannot be resurrected. For example, if you have Expert Earth Magic but only 6 Spell Power, you will restore 460 hit points per turn, which is insufficient for resurrecting an Azure Dragon with 1000 hit points.

If a stack is affected by Ghost Dragons' aging or Wyvern Monarchs' poisoning, it will be resurrected faster. Examples with Expert Earth Magic and 6 Spell Power (460 hit points restored per turn):

  • 8 Nagas which suffered from aging get resurrected instead of 4, as they have 55 hit points instead of 110.
  • 51 Pikemen which are poisoned get resurrected instead of 46, as they have 9 hit points instead of 10.

Inversely, if a stack if affected by health-increasing artifacts such as the Ring of Life, Ring of Vitality, Vial of Lifeblood, or their combination the Elixir of Life, less units will be resurrected.

With Basic Resurrection, the resurrected creatures which survive are removed at the end of the combat. Assuming no other resurrection methods, the amount of remaining creatures is the minimum amount in the stack throughout all phases of the combat.

Resurrection is one the most powerful spells in the game. Using it together with Expert Earth Magic and Intelligence, a hero can basically resurrect their entire army if successful with the Blind spell. Interestingly enough, the spell does not work on undead but can still appear in mage guilds of Necropolis.

Resurrected creatures remain after the battle only if the spell has been cast with Advanced or Expert Earth Magic.

The number of HP restored by Animate Dead and Resurrection is almost equal. Both give 50 times spell power at all levels. The flat bonus for Basic/Advanced/Expert level is 30/60/160 for Animate Dead and 40/80/160 for Resurrection, giving Resurrection a slight edge before Expert level. Note that Resurrection costs more spell points to cast and its effect is only permanent with at least Advanced Earth Magic.
