Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest

Lord Alamar is the leader of the Warlock faction and one of the four contenders for rulership of Enroth in the First War of Enrothian Succession. The other warlords vying for dominance are Lord Morglin Ironfist of the Knight faction, Lord Slayer of the Barbarian faction, and Queen Lamanda of the Sorceress faction. Lord Ironfist displayed deep respect for his rival, chastising his cousin Ragnar Ironfist as "a groveling beggar" in the wake of the Warlock's power.

After Lord Slayer and Queen Lamanda were defeated, Ironfist and Alamar warred directly. When Alamar launched a sweeping attack on Ironfist's homeland, Ironfist was forced to teleport home and abandon his offensive. Ultimately, however, Ironfist succeeded in breaching the Warlocks' capital city, and sundered its walls. Despite his brilliance, Alamar's might proved inferior to Lord Ironfist's, and he was cast down. Though Ironfist was ultimately crowned as ruler of the Kingdom of Enroth, Alamar managed to escape

Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars

In another play for power in Enroth, Alamar served under Archibald Ironfist during the Second War of Enrothian Succession. When Archibald was defeated by Roland, Alamar fled to Nighon.

Trivia

  • In the Heroes II tutorial, apparently based on an earlier build of the game, Alamar was named Skoran.

Alamar has Resurrection as a starting spell, which is one of most powerful spells in the game. This fact makes Alamar a valuable hero for all factions except Necropolis. In addition, Alamar starts with Scholar and Wisdom, which is a useful combination, that makes him a "walking Mage Guild" quickly. Three level-ups is minimum for Alamar to have Expert Scholar and Advanced Wisdom, which enables him to teach fourth level spells (including his Resurrection) to any hero capable of learning them.
