Story[edit | hide | hide all]
A wizard who was expelled from Bracada due to his previous interest in Necromancy and, after abandoning this field to experiment with Ancients technology, associating with Khazandar. Frederick stole a skyship, escaped to Eeofol, while Sam continued Frederick's work in Jadame. While in Eeofol, Frederick took
Henrietta as his assistant and invented
Automatons at a secret research site in collaboration with Khazandar. On the same day as the Night of Shooting Stars, Frederick was supposed to meet up with a messenger from Khazandar in Dry Ryehill, but was instead captured by the invading Kreegans. After being freed by Henrietta, he visited his secret research site in the mountains nearby to retrieve several
Automatons to aid in his escape from Eeofol and a few
Orb of Tempestuous Fire to power his airships. After besting Liston (a Bracadan mage sent to arrest him), Frederick and the
Halflings fled Antagarich on airships and rejoined his colleague in Burton.
Once there, Frederick and the Halflings set about making Burton their new home and being productive members of the community. They aided in fighting of Zog and
Dargem while Frederick also continued to invent devices (like a steam engine) based on Burton's rich supply of oil. Four years later, Burton and the surrounding area began being plagued by giant
Sandworms. Henrietta (now Burton's scoutmaster set of in search of
Agar (a new arrival from Enroth) to see if he had anything to do with this. When she didn't return, Frederick decided to mount an expedition to look for her. Unexpectedly, he is joined by
Kastore, the king of Deyja. Unbeknownst to Frederick, Kastore was actualy a traveler from another world seeking to revive the Heavenly Forges of the Ancients. Through the course of their adventure, they discover that the tomb north of Burton is actually a crashed Ancient starship, which Kastore is keen to explore. He enlightens Frederick as to the nature of the universe and the Ancients and eventually takes Frederick on as his apprentice.
Once Kastore took control of Terra Nova (the country Burton grew into), Frederick started disappearing for long periods of time. He seemed to be conducting research in laboratories hidden from the prying eyes before vanishing for good.
